Windows 8.1 laptop can't see the Xbox One on my network

Hi,

I've been having this issue since the day I got my Xbox One, and now I'm actually just sick and tired of messing around. I just can't seem to find any way of getting my W8.1 laptop to see my Xbox One on the network, for Play To purposes.

• They're on the same wireless network
• They're both online (I use the Xbox quite a lot for Netflix)
• I've changed the name of the Xbox system
• I've checked that media sharing is enabled on the laptop
• I've checked that "Play to" is enabled on the Xbox

I'm really out of clues here. I can't find the Xbox as a device through "Devices and printers".

Any hints as to what to try next?

Where is Microsoft Windows Media Center?

From a Windows 8.1 PC/tablet/laptop right click on the media and if you have added your Xbox One to your network you should see it connected. Click it and play.

 

My Xbox One isn't visible in the Xbox app on Windows 10 but is on same model laptop

HI all,

I can't see my Xbox One in the Xbox app or the Xbox beta app on my Windows 10 laptop, but I can successfully see my Xbox one on another laptop of exactly the same model and brand on the same network.

I am definitely on the same subnet as the Xbox one, I've tried rebooting, updating the Xbox app on the PC and everything. The network type is "private" on both laptops and i've tried both wireless and wired. Both work on the other laptop, neither work
on the new one.

The only difference is the laptop which doesn't see the Xbox One is on Windows 10 1511, whereas the other laptop is on the first version of Windows 10.

please help!

 

Might worth mentioning, I also have a desktop pc in my network, and my laptop and desktop "spots" each other through devices and printers.
