Windows 7 + Xbox 360 Driver not Working

Hello! I like music. A lot. I didn't know you could grab music from your computer on 360 though, so I went on my computer and added the 360 to the devices, but it can't find the driver for god knows why, I tried finding it manually online but all I can find
is the controller driver, nothing for the actual console itself. I'll be honest in saying I'm not sure whether to take this to Microsoft/Windows support, or here, but both are owned by Microsoft so it's probably fine.

Actually you can manually download the drivers for windows 7 and 8/8.1.

Problem solved. I don't even know why this method is an option when you can just simply use Windows Media Center instead. Although the 360 is ever so slightly just a little bit incredibly stupidly laggy as it emulates a PC for Windows Media Center for reasons
beyond my comprehension. I mean, when Microsoft makes one of its products compatible with another one of its products, you'd think it would be naturally compatible, right? But no, the 360 feels the need to emulate a PC for some reason. Like how the Xbox One
is "compatible" with some 360 games by emulating the 360. Now that I think about it, Microsoft is pretty lazy when it comes to compatibility.

 

I take back what I said. Windows Media Center doesn't allow you to listen to music outside of keeping Windows Media Center open. I just want my music, man. Why's this such a hassle?

 

If I can edit my posts, I don't know how, so yet another update-bump. I burned some songs I like onto a disc. It'll do for now but I really like the idea of being able to grab music straight from the computer, as opposed to burning a disc, so if someone
could tell me where to find the 360 driver for the 360 itself and not the controller, I'd appreciate it.

 

Update: Instead of burning a disc, I invested in a USB flash drive so I don't need to keep a disc in the tray to listen to music. The only reason I bother updating this is in case any other music lover encounters the same dilemma and finds this thread.

 

Note: Anyone with a USB wondering how I used it for music, simply download the music, it has to be in MP3 (or any other recognized audio file format) and just put it on the USB and put the USB into your xbox, then from the xbox guide go to the right one,
hit "Select Music" or something along those lines, go to the portable drive and bam, you got music.

Those were both essentially useless, I lack the driver required for my PC to interact with the 360 wirelessly and it appears it's no where to be found online, just controller drivers. Also, can't help but notice you didn't actually read through anything
I said because I already got Windows Media Center running just fine, only problem is it's laggy as all hell, and you can't actually listen to music unless Windows Media Center is kept open, but at that rate the 360 is basically a glorified MP3 player. I want
the music to be playing while I play games, which I guess is impossible without a USB or burned disc.

 

It'd be nice if editing your posts was a thing you could do. Anyway, maybe years go when you set it up the driver was available, but all that comes up in google for me is controller drivers, nothing for the actual console itself, which seems mandatory for
them to interact in any way.

 

Well I'm sorry it didn't work for you and it wasn't helpful. I just remembered trying to do this and those helped me get it working and it still works for me until today. It is nice being able to play music while playing games with just the popup dashboard
to control the music.

 

Hey there, sorry if I seemed rude at the time of saying that stuff. I was a lil upset. The USB thing is working fine, but it'd be nice if that whole computer-to-xbox thing worked, so I didn't have to mess with the USB every time I wanted to update a playlist.
AKA folder.

 

Awe its okay! I certainly understand the frustration. It took me a few days of really researching how to get it to work, it was not a fun process at all and even after sometimes became annoying to get running again. Best of luck to you!
