Discus and support Windows 7 Driver for original Xbox controller in XBoX on Consoles to solve the problem; I need help with this issue I am operating Windows 7 64bit and bought an adapter to convert it to usb and is apparently windows compatible with Windows...     Windows 7 Driver for original Xbox controller


    I need help with this issue I am operating Windows 7 64bit and bought an adapter to convert it to usb and is apparently windows compatible with Windows 98, 2000 and Vista but Windows 7 shows unknown device I tried a few things that I found through google
    but got nowhere quick.

    Hi,

    I have a brand new xbox one Controller and try to add this Controller to Windows 7.

    If I connect this Controller via usb to Windows 7, i see a unknown Controller in the Windows device Manager.

    But if i try to find Driver via automatic update, no success.

    If i install the device Driver xb1usb.11059.0.140526x64.msi, i see a unknown Controller in the Windows device Manager too.

    It doesn't work under Windows 7. Using Windows 10 the Controller is kown and the device works.

    Any idea what i should do?

    Microsoft, can you make the Xbox One controller driver available online so that I can actually use your product with Windows 8.1 and Windows 7?

    My controller is not defective and neither is anything in my OS. I even tested it out on Windows 10 PC and it works. I think the driver was removed online because Windows 10 comes with the driver pre-installed on the OS. However someone forgot that Windows
    8.1 and 7 does not come with the driver pre-installed and so the users still need to download the driver in order for it to work.

    Please make the driver available online for Windows 8.1 and 7.

    Hi,

    Windows 10 (64 and 32-bit) already has drivers built in for Xbox controllers. It's just plug and play. As Windows 7 pre-dates the Xbox One, it requires a driver to be downloaded.

    Normally if you insert an Xbox One controller into a Windows 7 machine it should download and install the driver. If that does not happen, then you can do it manually.

    Xbox One Controller

    I found this driver from the Internet archive's 'Way back machine'. It should be safe as it is from a Microsoft website originally.

    Hey, you mentioned this is windows 7 right?

    Make sure your controller is update as per: https://support.xbox.com/en-IE/xbox-one/accessories/update-controller-for-stereo-headset-adapter

    Update the Xbox Controller drivers as per "Windows 8.1 and Windows 7" section of: https://support.xbox.com/en-IE/xbox-on-windows/accessories/connect-xbox-one-controller-to-pc

    Heya!

    As valoryea mentioned Windows 7 and the new controllers may have issues without that driver. We would mostly recommend using Windows 10 with the controllers as Windows 10 is designed to be compatible with them and Windows 7 is not.

    As Windows 7 is not fully compatible with the controller you may run into issues even with the drivers installed.

    We do wish you the best with that though.

    If you run into issues even after you have upgraded to Windows 10 do let us know!
