Windows 11 Not Launching Xbox PC Games From External Hard-drive

Hey all, very new to Windows 11 and just snagged myself a gaming laptop with Xbox Gamepass Ultimate. I've connected an external harddrive to the laptop and have downloaded an Xbox Gamepass PC game to it and another one to the PC's personal harddrive.

The issue is as the title says, the laptop launches the game I downloaded to its own harddrive just fine but when I try to launch the game that I downloaded to the external nothing happens. No error, no attempt to load, pressing the "Play" button or running the application as Admin doesn't do anything at all.

I've ensured the laptop is completely updated, along with the Xbox app and the Microsoft Store.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are you an Xbox Insider or PC Insider?
Have you tried to install a game in an internal hard drive and encounter same issue?
Are the games installed from Xbox app and Microsoft Store?
Do you mind sharing a screenshot of the issue? Please conceal any personal information.
What specific games this issue occurs?

I would try to do a clean install of the system, mate. I haven't installed Windows 11 yet waiting for the launch but I will copy the system image to a flash drive, save the important files on an external hard drive and format the hard drives and install Windows. I like to do this so as not to bring anything buggy from the previous system.

Thanks for your post. I understand you are attempting to use an external hard drive for your Windows 10 PC and Xbox One. When you format a hard drive and install games for use on Xbox One, the hard drive will need to be exclusive to the Xbox One. If you
begin to move files onto your external hard drive from a PC you will need to reformat for further use with the Xbox One. For more info, check out:

Hi, sorry for that issue, the problem is the external hard drive, for some reason (I don't know why), the games that require Administrator approval have issue on external drive.

Thanks for the answer. External hard drive it is not the problem in my case. While trying to find a solution to this Xbox Game pass for PC / Windows Store error I did reinstall Windows 10 on my iMac's internal hard drive. The problem with error 0x8007001f
persists even when Windows 10 is installed on the internal hard drive.
