Windows 11 and Forza Horizon

It doesn't run for me either. Windows 11 + Forza Horizon 4 or 5 = Crash and Burn

The URL you've hyperlinked is the same for both links. I can't find anywhere where it says Forza 5 does not run on Windows 11.

I'm not sure how you have lost access to your progress and in-app purchases, that is likely a separate issue. However, Windows 11 is not in beta, it's a full commercial release. It's been on general release since October 2021. Forza Horizon 5 is designed to run on both Windows 10 and Windows 11.

There should no incompatibilities for games between Windows 10 and Windows 11. I'm a PC gamer and I play Forza Horizon 5 via Windows 11 and it's working perfectly.

Hi Francia, thanks for reply I play Forza Horizon 5 on my Windows 11 Laptop and unplugging the Modem/Router didn't help.

"I'm not sure how you have lost access to your progress and in-app purchases," Apparently Xbox and Microsoft isn't sure either and can't verify anything. Spoke to them at length trying to get it resolved.

As an early developer I know this, and it's the exact opposite of what support said when I contacted them about the performance issues. They said "Windows 11 is not a full OS and is still Beta so it is not supported"

Basic issue is it starts great, runs at over 150 FPS, for about 12 races, sometimes a little less, then drops below 100 and starts to lag before it crashes. Seems to get worse when there's a new driver for GPU.

I have a massively powerful PC.

8 Core i7 clocked to 5001 MHZ Liquid Cooled.

I know what's causing it not to work on Windows 11, for basically everyone, but for the life of me, I can't get anyone at Microsoft to fix it.

Gaming Service installs from Store and sets invalid permissions that were exploited in earlier versions of Windows and have since been fixed. These same permissions will be migrated from Windows 10 when updated to Windows 11.

Reinstalling anything other than a complete OS wipe and clean install of Windows 11 will not fix it.

Security permissions on the app directory C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.624F8B84B80_3.455.709.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\ForzaHorizon5.exe

In an attempt to restrict access to their data, which does not work, they have removed the group User and all child objects security and inadvertently disabled Admin access to them as well which causes System account access to be invalid. You cannot unset User account security permission like this if the member/user is part of the Administrators group. Check permissions on the above directory or application and view advanced Security Permissions. The system states an invalid user and shows the account I am logged on with as having corrupt permissions, which cannot be fixed even when logged in as the local system admin.

You can verify everything above by enabling the local Administrator account, which is highly inadvisable for standard users, then run the application. You can also verify it is not other applications by running those while logged on as the local admin. Doing these resolves almost all crash and lag problems. I am sure there will be excuses, other things not starting up with PC, etc. and I assure you that is incorrect.

I did this and had only 1 app crash after 8 hours of playing under the local system admin account. Normally it crashes more than once per hour.

Again, the only changes are being logged on as a Local Admin which is not part of the group /User.

You cannot run an application with an invalid account, disable admin access to it, then expect it to read the GPU information and pass commands to do things such as clear app cache, shader cache, or any memory bleed so it may continue to run. Instead, it fills all space on the GPU and shared system memory without clearing it between scenes, races, or loading and will crash.

Can someone ask them to please remove their heads from their butts and fix this?
