  1. Windows 10 Event: Before & After Discussion

I think this thread needs to get back on topic ie Windows 10 and not Holo Lens. I'm sure people are more interested in something they can actually play with in 2015 never mind 5, 10 years time or maybe never.

Lets talk about Windows 10 and XBOne and it's immediate implications!

Personally don't think Virtual Reality or Holograms will ever become mainstream in a home setting. I could see DuFFul's idea of a "heads up display" becoming marketable if the price was right; believe the technology is already here.

I just don't think the majority of people want to strap equipment unto their heads. 3d, V.R., HoloLens, will never be more than a novelty...in my humble opinion.

    Peace, J.R.

Windows 10 Event: Before & After Discussion

The streaming games from an xbox one to windows 10 has me intrigued. First Person shooter mouse/keyboard advocates would be really excited if this opened up the keyboard and mouse for them to use with their console buddies, but I'm actually more excited
about the possibility of Real-time-strategy games making their way over to consoles. I love starcraft 2, but all of my gaming buddies only have an xbox one and a few very under-powered PCs. If they could use the power of the xbox one to play mouse/keyboard
RTS games on their Windows 10 PCs, that would be AMAZING! I know none of this was mentioned, but it seems that if you are already playing the game through a PC this should be more than possible, and I'm hoping someone from Microsoft sees this.

I hope they never combine K & M players with game pad players on X1 for competitive FPS games I would just not play

I think they understand Rippen and cross platform on games like that will probably be a no go. More Co-op MMORPG style games where it is you against AI or games where aim is not a do or die issue

Tom Clancy's The Division is a first person shooter (online only) that's coming to the One and PS4 with cross play. Ubisoft has said it will be coming to the PC so there is speculation that it will be cross platform between all three.

I believe they'll do the same thing they did with Shadowrun and simply use console hit detection to even the playing field.

PC gamers already don't like Uplay and if they "dummy down" the game for cross play I think it'll hurt sales on the PC. If your going to play it with a controller anyway you might as well play it on the console and avoid the Uplay PC nightmare.

1 unified umbrella for all your MS products. I think MS do want to bridge the gap between X Box and Windows. Soon rather then later you be able to buy the same games on PC as you can on Live.

  10. Though while I do think that the hololen will have a place in gaming, I don't think that it's currently Microsofts main focus with them at the moment. Though it'll will be interesting to see what it could bring to gaming but for now I would say it's more
business focused and for everyday use.

Just to be a little off topic, I'm sure The Division is a third person game (unless something has changed). Though I took it with a grain of salt there were indications that each platform will have it's own servers, instead of one server to run all the platforms.

Of course they will @wild. What do you think the Rise of the Tomb Raider deal is all about.

Yes it's exclusivity has a duration on Xbox for holidays 2015. After that you can buy the PC Windows10/live version of the game.

Windows 10 Event: Before & After Discussion

Hopefully Windows 10 will perform noticeably better than Windows 7 and it should have better security than even Windows 8.1. When they try to introduce new things, it can affect users experience. Windows Vista was horrible because they introduced new features.
In Windows 8, it was too boxy, snappy, many don't like the Windows 8 style UI as many PC's/laptops don't come with touch-screen. Windows 10 fixes this by returning the Start Menu. Also when Windows 8 came out, you couldn't change the background.... no fun
for young peps, just like Xbox 1 suffered the same fate until the November Update came out. And it shouldn't be a resources hog either, something which Windows Vista is well known for compared to Windows 7 which was a great performance improvement in task
manager when you compare the running processors in memory.

Not everyone has VDSL or Fibre Broadband too so the Xbox App should be able to get by even with ADSL Broadband speeds. I do have high hopes for Windows 10. My HP Pavilion dv6 has W7 Home 64-bit and am thinking of getting a new PC late this year when Windows
10 is due to release. My PC crashes when I played the Sims 3 on it tried EA Support they couldn't fix it and my PC meets the recommended specs has a 1st generation Intel Core i5 processor. So a new PC with Windows 10 that can play The Sims 4 and Xbox stuff
and a fun UI better than Windows 8 and 8.1, Windows 10 is looking bright to me. Another thing is compatibility with devices which say they're only compatible with older issues of Windows. Maybe Windows 10 will trick those devices to make it compatible with
a PC which will have the new Windows 10. The Sims 3 or The Sims 4, or Xbox stuff, running on a Windows 10 HP Laptop with an Intel Core i5 or i7 processor. HP isn't a bad brand it's very common in NZ. I kind of like this Unification idea for Windows 10 though.
It also will have the kind of UI which I think more people will be into, intuitive like Xbox 360's UI and Windows 7's UI.

I dont think it has anything to do with the cross platform.... we will not be in a real game shooting at people on the PS4... most we will be doing if playing with the drone on a separate screen from a tablet...

and TBH, that article is 8 months and contains the anti MS bias that was heavy back then... things have changed slightly since then...remember that
