Windows 10/11 - Xbox app lists install location but files are nowhere to be found

See screenshot. This is happening for ALL GAMES. It lets me choose the install location but the files are nowhere to be found. Moving it to another disk adds a bunch of folders to the root but still no files where they're supposed to be.

I have tried repairing/resetting the Xbox app and Gaming Services app, I have upgraded to Windows 11, I have signed up for Xbox Insider and updated the apps again, I have installed games to 3 different hard drives & moved them between them, I have tried registry fixes, I'm at a complete loss. I can't even 'open file location' on the shortcuts or in the task manager - nothing happens.

    :)

i can only play minecraft windows 7 with windows 10???

Yeah, Minecraft launcher for Windows 10/11 requires Xbox identity app due to that app was created on windows 10 launch

There is no way to install Xbox identity provider app on windows 8 and older systems (these apps uses a different file type from the regular .exe)

Try installing instead windows 7 64 bits and let me know how it goes

"This drive has apps from another device... to use this drive the other apps must be deleted" comes up when trying to switch install location for xbox game pass.

How to import games to xbox app from old operating system files.

so theres no chance that with the same account logged in that I can transfer/locate the games already installed? That sort of sucks but ty anyways for your help
No. If you had done the 'upgrade' route you would still have access to Windows Apps and games previously installed on Windows 10. But since you chose to install from scratch, those files are locked away in encrypted folders that you will need to delete as they will not be accessible to a fresh install of Windows 11.

    Locate installed games?

    Hi DWT_22,

Thank you for posting on the Xbox forums.

I believe the reason that you had to install the app 3 times and the game 3 times is because on Windows 10, each Microsoft account that logs into Windows becomes a user with their own set of personal files for profile data and download including apps and
games. I think in the past some Windows games had one location for save files but now each user has their own set of personal files. If you open File Explorer and open your main drive (usually C:) there should be file paths for each user that has an account
    on that Windows 10 PC.

You can accomplish sharing of one game on that same PC across multiple Microsoft accounts/Xbox Live profiles by setting up Offline permissions on that PC so that the main account that owns the Game Pass subscription can download the game once to your account
while logged into Windows, launch the game at least once, and then your kids can just log into their accounts through the Xbox app and the Microsoft Store. The game should login and save progress based on whoever is logged into the Xbox app and the Store.
By setting offline permissions on that PC, you can play games on that PC without needing to be singed into the account that owns the games or subscription. Basically, they shouldn't have to login to Windows at all, just the Xbox Live services with their own
accounts through the Xbox app and Microsoft Store. The Store should still show your PC's installed games and apps depending on what user is logged into Windows, but you are able to freely change account's in the Store and still play installed games with another
account if you have offline permissions set up.

    1. Launch the Microsoft store app and sign-in with the account who owns and wants to share the entitlement.
    2. At the upper right corner of the screen click the ellipses button (…) and select
      Settings
    3. Scroll to Offline Permissions and toggle it to
      ON

If you are talking about the location of the files for FH4 to just move it to the other users' folder, I don't believe you are able to do that. In any case, the quickest way to locate the installed game is:

    Run the game

Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager

Locate the game process in the list of processes

Right click the process and choose 'Open File Location' (Usually follows C:\Program Files\Windows Apps\)

    I hope this helps!

Can’ launch Game Pass Games from PC (Error 0x80004005)

    Hi Georges,

    Thanks for trying to help.

I am on Windows 11 and everything is up to date, both windows, the Xbox App and all the games.

I have verified and repaired all games. I have deleted and reinstalled the Xbox App. I have downloaded a windows 11 iso file and performed an inline install (I.e a complete reinstall of windows 11 but keeping apps and files). None of it has resolved this issue
