Win10 > XboxOne Streaming - Not Displaying Video

Hi all,

So, streaming my XboxOne to my Win10 PC isn't working (It has worked previously, but I'm not sure when it stopped working).

All the streaming settings on my Xbox are enabled. I can find and connect to my Xbox on my PC. When I "test streaming" all options show a green tick, no issues displayed. When I click "stream" my PC enters full screen, as if it thinks it is streaming the
Xbox. My xbox, connected to the TV, receives a pop up stating I have started streaming. My laptop plays the sound from my Xbox, however, it just shows the same screen as before (the console connect screen of the Xbox app) grayed out. I don't see my actual
XboxOne screen displayed...

I have updated the Xbox app, I have disconnected and "forgotten" my XboxOne, then reconnected. I have powered down fully my XboxOne and PC, before reconnecting both. No luck.

Does anyone have any ideas? Has anyone encountered the same issues before?

So right now I seemed to have misplaced one of my Ethernet cables. I want to stream Xbox to my PC but I usually do that with 2 cables. I'm not really sure which device should have the Ethernet cable inserted into it for the best results. The Console or the PC? They are both an equal distance from the router.

I tried it suing wireless and it was fine, could manage to stream on the highest quality too.

 

Hi Eardley,

In the Xbox App, go to Settings and then Xbox One: change the Video encoding level to another value, perhaps a lower one, and see if this has any effect on your streaming.

Let us know how you get on.

Thanks, but I had already tried that. It appears to make no difference what encoding level I choose.

Hi, I have just updated my windows 7 home Laptop to windows 10 home, just so I can stream from my xbox one to my laptop. and I am having the same issue and no matter what I do with the settings I can not get a video, but I do have sound, I have looked all
over the internet for suggestions and I have done as all the instructions have instructed and all settings are as they should, I have ensured that all apps and consoles are up to date. the test stream come up all good and all four are green ticks. I'm even
trying to stream on the lowest video encoding.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

 

Hi Slim, What version of the app are you using? Are you also observing the same issue using the Xbox App (Beta)? You can DL the app located here:
www.microsoft.com/.../9NBLGGH1J27H or go to the Store app, search for “Xbox beta” and it will show up as a search result. If you are able to repro this on the beta, please go ahead
and use "report a problem" in the beta app. In the mean time I will highlight this in our reports to the developers.

Good, glad its a thing because I was getting worried it was selective to me and wouldn't be fixed. I have this issue as well. Got everything all set up last night and it was fine. This morning I tried both consoles in my house and they connect fine but wont
display any video. I get a dimmed greyed out screen with audio but no video.

 

Just wanna say that today it randomly worked. Was working really well too. Was playing games better than as if I was playing some PC games.

But now its not working again. Didn't do anything to my settings in my app or on my PC and I have everything that updates set to ask me first so its not an update causing buggy issues either.

Has anyone got this worked out? I see its originally posted November and the last time a staff member checked in was the 18th of this month. Surely someone has to have gotten somewhere. Would be nice if staff would reply to half of the posts though. This
isn't the only one and I started one myself in another forum that seemed more appropriate to me. I mean its not like they make it easy to actually get over the phone support, which could do a world of wonders.

 

well mine is still not working, and I have downloaded the beta version, and still no good, I also reported the problem on the app.

so I'm still without...

I am glad I have found someone else with this issue. The console streams to my lower powered laptop no issues at all but I am only getting audio streaming on my desktop PC. The game streaming test shows all green ticks for all encoding qualities. I have
tried wireless and wired, it doesn't make any difference. I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. I am now using beta version 14.13.27016.00000. I really don't want to have to recover my PC to Windows 7 and then go through all the upgrade process again
and reinstalling everything in the hopes that will solve it.

 

Greetings Undead, Just to confirm your seeing this no video displaying with game streaming using the Xbox App (Beta) on the latest update: 14.13.27016.00000, right? If your able to repro please click the smiley face on the left NAV bar and click 'Report
a problem', this will submit helpful data for the developers to investigate. We will contact you if we need more information. In the mean time I will highlight this in our reports to the developers so they are aware ahead of time.

Hi Bestlano, yes I'm getting audio but no video displayed. Bottom left it says network quality issues but I can't find anything wrong. I have recently upgraded to an AC wireless card ( I needed one anyway) which is working flawlessly and it doesn't work
with that either. I had an update for the Xbox app today but that hasn't fixed it. I submitted a report a few days ago but I will submit another.
