Win10 & Smartglass xbox apps have no textbox

I love being able to use my win10 xbox app or my Smartglass app on iphone to type messages on my xbox while playing since sending msgs using a controller is extremely inconvenient. But for some reason, over this last week, when I select the "Controller"
function in the app when connected to my Xbox, the textbox never comes up when trying to type an XBL msg to a friend or using it in Warframe tradechat.

I chatted with an Xbox support tech through the support here on the website but she wasn't able to figure out what was wrong. She had me restart my xbox, router, and computer. Then we tried uninstalling/reinstalling the xbox app on my win10 laptop and
smartglass app on my phone. None of that fixed the issue. Since it's not showing up on either I'm wondering if there's just a setting somewhere on my Xbox that I accidentally turned off? Please help as this is very annoying.

PHONE AS A KEYBOARD and Mic

If you use Smartglass, you should be able to use they keyboard there for all apps if you use the controller to click A in the textbox.

Smartglass for Xbox 360 cannot connect to console

On my home network, with Smartglass for Xbox 360, I am unable to connect to the console from any devices (wired and wireless devices, iOS, Android, Win 8.1, and Win10). "Couldn't play due to a network problem". Error codes 0xc101008e (0x800c0008).

I have tried the suggestions here:

Console software is up-to-date. Smartglass apps are up-to-date.

All network tests in Xbox 360 settings to Xbox live, Media Center, and other computers look good.

I currently do not have a wireless connection option to try for the Xbox 360.

A corrupted data may cause your Smartglass not to work properly. we need to gather more information about the issue by answering the following questions below:

1. Have you tried to uninstall the app and then re-install it again?

2. What Xbox console are you using?

For the mean time, here is a
link on how to set up and use SmartGlass on Xbox One.

You might need to click A in the textbox in order for the keyboard to pop up. It does not always pop up automatically just because there is a text-input field on screen.

Alternatively, if you have a tablet or smartphone with Xbox One Smartglass, you could use that as a keyboard for your console.
