WIN 10 - Xbox One wired controller

    hello,

recently i bought a xbox-one wired controller and connected it to my laptop (acer predator 17, i7-6700hq, WIN 10).

the port is working and the laptop also recognizes the controller. there's just one problem which makes the controller unusable..

here is a picture of the occuring error (with translations):

Schaut euch mal dieses Bild an!

Xbox 360 wired controller on Windows 10

I was wondering if my old wired 360 controller is compatible with playing Xbox One games on Windows 10? I don't have 10 yet but was curious if I'd have to go buy a wired XBO controller should I choose to update my OS from Win
    7 to 10.

Oddly enough, I have tried using my wired 360 controller on my XBO but that obviously didn't work. I suppose that's why I'm asking this.

  3. XBox 360 Controller for Windows 10

Good evening (from Slovakia)! I want to buy an XBox 360 Wired Controller for my PC and my question is: Can I use a normal XBox Wired 360 controller (which is given to XBox 360s) on Windows 10, or I have to buy a new one specialized for Windows 10?

    Sorry for bad english.

Have you tried changing the power options found in control panel...View by Small Icons...Power options?

If you haven`t tried that, just open the power options menu then select the balanced plan.

If that does not work, click change plan settings, then change advanced power settings.

In the window that loads up select USB Settings by clicking the + icon found next to it, and then the plus icon next to USB selective suspend setting.

You should then see an option that says enabled. If it says that, just change it to disabled.

    Good luck

    hello Bauuler,

first of all thank you for the quick answer.

i already tried to change the energy plan, but nothing happened. further on i also tried to disable the USB energy settings with no different result.

so the problem is still here and i don't know what to do :s

could it be the standard xbox-one driver on win 10? hm

    thank you again!

    try the following.

Open Device Manager. Right Click Xbox One Controller...Select Update Driver Software...Then select Browse...

Then select Let me pick. After than choose the following

    "Microsoft Xbox One Controller"

If that doesn`t work then i can only suggest buying a powered USB Hub.

Although that might not even work.

    Good luck

    oh hello again!

the problem is not about the energyoption or anything else like that..

it's ONLY about the driver, which was already installed via WIN 10!! THIS ONE IS THE WRONG ONE

i manually downloaded the xbox-one driver for WIN (x64) and after that i could change the driver (this option wasn't available before!)

    it looks like this now:

    www.directupload.net/.../4kfdy37j_jpg.htm

the correct one is the "microsoft xbox one controller", but the default installed driver was the "xbox controller".

now, when i use the option "update driver automatically" it will install the "xbox controller" - driver and the controller will be disabled again..

    so, my last question:

did this problem only happen to me?? (if not it should be fixed :s)

excuse me for my bad language, but i hope you could understand the main part :3

thanks even though WIN 10 - Xbox One wired controller :)

You have installed the previous Windows 10 versions of the driver. It may have fixed your problem but this configuration is NOT supported, the inbox drivers are not "wrong" and it seems there could be an underlying power issue with your USB port/hub.

Sorry I meant pre Windows 10, not "previous Windows 10", or in other words, the legacy Windows 7 drivers.

You can check the power requirement for devices within device manager. First locate the controller in device manager. Select it then go to View->Devices by Connection. You should now be able to see the tree relationship for the device and it's parent should
be either a USB Root Controller or a "Generic USB Hub" or some such device. If you right click that node, then select Properties, you should see a Power tab (there will also be a Power Management but we want Power specifically). On that tab you should see
all the device attached to the hub, and the power required for each of them. Since the legacy drivers don't support audio, my guess would be that the power requirement is lower hence the driver "works".

I believe a minimum of 500mA is required for the normal inbox driver to work, so in a nutshell you need to fix the number of devices sharing power on your USB hub/controller. Remember that different USB devices have different power requirements, and it is
not necessary that all can be serviced equally if the load on the line is too high. This is related but not completely determined by your power options of the PC as a whole. For instance even if you have high power for you entire PC selected, there may still
be not enough power on the hub/controller to power your specific device if there isn't enough to go around.
