I believe the extra cost is attributed to expansion and upkeep of the game and associated servers. If I don't see this happening during my paid subscription time, I'll certainly stop paying. That said, if I stop paying
that also means I'll stop playing. If they don't keep up their end of the bargain, I'm pretty certain I won't be alone and the game will not be as successful. I'm okay with it so far but as you pointed out, there are other online games that I will only play
once and then pay for DLC if I want to play on. The same discussion goes on for the high cost of DLC. I think we're all programmed to want games to be cheaper but at the same time we keep paying the higher cost for the same content.

Respawn paid MS a fee for their use of the cloud in TF. They didn't have much of a budget since their split with CoD, so MS couldn't have asked a ridiculous amount for access.
Those servers auto-scale to client demand as needed and are owned/serviced by MS.

Funny thing... I'm really enjoying that game and I haven't had to pay EA/Respawn a single penny extra just to play it online. What makes it even more funny (and I mean literally
laughable funny) is that we're talking about a company that is synonymous with greed (do I even need to say EA here?) paired with a dev who has a very limited budget (Respawn).

Are they going to be expanding the game and adding content? Unquestionably! They're even adding new game types (which I recall reading somewhere that these new game types will
be free DLC). Of course, they will charge for DLC maps and such and I have no problem with that... because I will still be able to play it online even if I decide I don't want the extra DLC.

  2. What is the point of all this discussion? I'll pay it unless I have no fun; then I'll stop. I'll be sad; but I'll stop. I don't need validation for my viewpoint and I don't see any need to cast aspersions on the developers. They walk a narrow path and can
be cast down very easily. I have never noticed gamers to be particularly biddable. Once the game is actually being played then we'll see if they follow.

  3. What is the point of all this discussion? - Actually, I believe it's a quite valid discussion with a very debatable point. Otherwise it wouldn't be still going on 8 pages later.

I'll pay it unless I have no fun; then I'll stop. I'll be sad; but I'll stop. -
I won't pay it without a justifiable reason. Just because it's my disposable income doesn't mean it's less valuable to me. This, naturally makes me question what I'm paying this sub for. Server maintenance? Please... servers have been required since
XBL launched and they didn't maintain themselves all that time. Game expansion? That's been handled via DLC since Halo 2. Maybe sooner, but that map pack was my first DLC. This leaves 1 solitary reason for a 'required' sub that I actually give some merit to.
That's the seamless MP world that everyone enters when playing the game. It has to stay in sync for all who play, which makes an optional DLC idea unfeasible. Thing is, I'm certain they had other options to handle this. But wait... in fact, they're already
using one of the other options in addition to the sub. The in game shop. Sorry, I'm not just going to throw enough $ to purchase this game 3X a year just for the privilege, based on a semi valid reason, no matter how much fun it is. That makes me sad, but
    I won't.

I don't need validation for my viewpoint and I don't see any need to cast aspersions on the developers. They walk a narrow path and can be cast down very easily.
    - I don't need any validation either. To me, it's not about validation. As a consumer, I have a right to question if I'm being charged a legitimate fee and if it's for a legitimate reason. I also have a right to feel
it's not justified and/or discuss why. That's what I'm doing, no more than that but certainly no less. Also, you'll notice that in my above reply, I didn't mention any devs. Only Halo 2 and XBL were mentioned and at that, I brought no business practices into
question. They were only used to establish a timeline. The aspersion free version. <OK that really wasn't planned.

I have never noticed gamers to be particularly biddable. -
Most of the people I game with aren't... a few can be. Most of the people I game with aren't going to get ESO because of the fee... but a few 'might'.

Once the game is actually being played then we'll see if they follow. - Who knows... by then, someone might actually convince me that the sub is worth it. The odds are incredibly slim, but anything is possible
    I guess.

I'll be there when it drops to X-Box One! I'm starting the PC version tomorrow night. Have company right now and they are resetting the servers anyway.

  7. *sniff* I know I said I had no time and could better spend the money elsewhere for just a 3 month head start but I'm just a little bit jealous nevertheless. Have fun, Angelus, and I'll be there with bells on come July.

I'm just trying to get a feel for it. The whole MMO experience. Some funny and normal folks on already but, I am starting to see the "Regular Serious" ones also. I'm not getting too serious and I think some folks are having a problem with some of the seemingly
young PVP crowd that runs around. There are a lot of fun folks there and that makes it easy to see the more serious ones. Lots of "Hot looking Red eyed babes" too! It's funny how I had this plan all written down and haven't really done any of it yet. You may
be better off in the long run waiting. They already have folks sending out these "scams" for quick leveling and getting gold faster. I joined a guild today but, I'm not sure I'll fit in there. I guess I have to learn when the "Like Minded" folks are on and
pal up that way. I've been dying a lot also. Just getting too cocky and trying to see just how far I can push it. I did win one battle with an NPC that was 8 levels above me. lol! I'm looking forward to using my controller.

    Hell no, I'm disappointed in the fact that I've spent like;

    Xbox one: £400

    XBL Membership renewal: £40

*If I were to buy Elder scrolls online*

    Elder scrolls online: £48

    Monthly subcription: £10

In total £498 and more if continued the subscription just to play a damn game online... Does it seem worth it?

I suggest the community to create a formal protest.

I feel your pain Joshood. They do have a payment plan that will reduce the monthly cost. All you have to do is commit for 6 months. I don't remember the actual figures but the longer plan was considerably cheaper. Playstation4 does have a Premium plan now
so I'm not sure how that's going to work. From what I'm learning, X-Box doesn't have anything to do with it. Our Live accounts are a separate matter and they are not going away. It's up to the individuals to decide. I've been on pretty much non-stop since
the day before release and after I got everything settled with the game, I have to say I'm having a blast. It's pretty crowded for several hours a day but I'm slowly figuring out when the crowds are a bit more manageable. I'll get back to you after a few more
days. Some of it is just hilarious and some of it is totally outright annoying as heck.

I'm a huge fan of the series but I'll be damned if I'm going to pay for the privilege of playing. Should of been FTP with micro-transactions at least then if you don't like i you don't have to commit any money to it.

Will You Pay A Monthly Subscription (When You're Already Paying For LIVE)?

we already pay to play games online so it just doesnt seem right to ask people to pay a monthly subscription because its a lot of money at the end of the day to play a game it's 70euro for the game then 60 for ur membership then an extra 15 a month i already
have this game pre-ordered but i dont think i will get. I already feel let down as i have a day 1 edition and MS have giving us nothing for having one.

I really hope us Xbox one members are not going to be the only ones looking dumb on launch day for ESO I hope MS comes to some kind of conclusion on this issue because we have all already stuck out our necks buying a new system and we didnt *** when we payed
for XBL all those yrs while PS3 guys skated by,No we stuck it out with MS because we believed in them. Now its on MS to show its appreciation and resolve this problem with favorable results.
