Ok your reasoning for your opinions are silly. Length of time as a gamer and platform variety have very little sway on how harsh someone judges a game.

You loved DA:I.....so you think that it holds up against tactical rpg's like Baldur's Gate, Planescape Torment, Icewind Dale? ( I could list many more but those are Bioware games or use their engine).

If you've never played those games (or other tactical rpg's) I could see you enjoying DA:I, if you have played those games it would be interesting to hear what DA:I does as well or better than those games.

So yes, gaming experience does make a huge difference on how you judge a game. You will never see me in a thread regarding a fighting genre game....mindless button mashing garbage that hasn't changed in 30 yrs would be my only comment. I know that's not
that case but my lack of experience in the genre would mean that's all I could bring to the conversation....so rather than show my ignorance, I'd keep my mouth shut.

See I didn't expect a tactical RPG from DAI per se. I've played the whole series as an action RPG and that didn't change with this release. My main reason for loving the game was the story and character interactions to answer your question though. I have
played Baldurs Gate(debating on picking up the updated version) and the original Fallouts(1, 2, Brotherhood) games if those count. Also I didn't say that gaming experience didn't affect your opinions, but that they didn't affect how HARSHLY you judge games.
You implied that your length of time as a gamer and variety of platforms made you more critical of games. Im saying I'm probably closely matched in both those categories to you and Im much more forgiving of the games I play. Im also sure there are much
less experienced players that are more critical of games than I am.

People can be critical of a game just based on personal preference ( as I am in my dislike of fighters) with out anything to back up that preference (which is fine).

If someone gives an opinion of a game based on how well it succeeds or fails at that genre then experience in that genre is a must to have your opinion hold any weight. I have a friend who has fallen in love with app RTS's, she thinks they are great games.
I've played StarCraft, Age of Empires, etc so I see these games as micro-transaction trash. I know what a good RTS can be and she has nothing to compare the ones she is playing to.

(Both the enhanced versions of BG are worth picking up, Icewind Dale has an enhanced version too also well worth picking up.)

This is a fantastic little game, it has now eaten up so much of my gaming time the last few days, if you can get past the whole 8 bit look then I would encourage you to get it without hesitation.

Such a simple concept but so so addictive, and obviously very very frustrating, so many times have I thought I was on the road to escape only to get my cell tossed and lose stuff lol

  6. I finally caved and picked up the game, but I'm at a loss at what I want to do on any given day since there are so many options available to me. :|

i cant believe i sat and read this whole thread Will you make it out? :(

Anyway i wont be picking this up because i don't want to. I'm bored of the 80s throwbacks. I like them every now and then but ive got emulators that can run this sort of game and I'll play them through other means, Its just not what i picked up my One for.

This is just my opinion and quite frankly i don't care about anybody else's as it doesn't affect what games i play, nor when i play them or how i play them

I understand the appeal Ryse has to many people.

It's a launch tittle that showed off the One's graphics capabilities. Someone who is a single platform gamer going from the 360 to the One Ryse is probably mind blowing.

I'm under no illusion that I'm "normal" for this forum. Most people here are single platform gamers and don't have much experience outside the Xbox brand (and many don't have much experience on the Xbox).

If I had limited gaming time and only played on the One I'd probably be playing the big AAA titles only too. It's the people that are putting 15 to 20 hrs a week into games like Destiny and then bash a game for it's graphics that I have an issue with.

Just as many of you don't want to see a gaming library filled with "retro" graphics games, I don't want to see a library full of dumbed down, content lacking, DLC filled AAA titles. I have two consoles that are gathering dust and the majority of the titles
I play on them are indie titles I've already played on the PC.

I bought the next gen consoles to play the exclusives with the quality we saw in Gears of War and Uncharted last gen and I'm seriously beginning to wander if we'll ever see that quality of game again from the big guys.

Never saw a game with more 80.000 votes on Xbox 360/One.But i'm pretty sure some sold more than 1 million copies. Those ratings doesn't means much.

The Escapists won't be on top selling games, doesn't means if is good or bad,if someone will like it or not.Just a question of taste.

So far,i enjoy it,i like the daily routines and there are a lot of things to do and to discover.

I try to act rough, beat several prisoners, now there are all after me ^^^.

    Cool little game.

Art is subjective. Dunn care if a game is a 16 bit indie or a BB triple A game. What matters is what matters to me. A fun game. But calling this game "ART" is a bit premature...
