  2. MAKE IT... MAKE IT NOW!

So they pick a piece of soil and grass out of everything in mincraft... Why not a creeper or something.

Very flattering, who wants a soil and grass xbox, very odd.

Haha! System requirements would have been higher? From what? A twenty year old pc to a ten year old one? Seriously mate. This game has absolutely no art design whatever. Good gameplay it may have but as I have said, to me gameplay alone doesn't sell a game.
Just my opinion. It doesn't have to be cutting edge graphics with all the latest bells and whistles. But they could've done a lot more with this to make it visually appealing!

I guess I don't understand at what point the graphics become acceptable. The current graphics aren't acceptable (yet work fine for the game and take nothing away from the gameplay) yet Diablo 3 style graphics aren't required? Doesn't make sense to me.

You didn't make any comment in regards to my comment on your music recording but it's the same thing. People could say you ( I'm assuming you're doing it in home or small scale) can't offer the production value of a large recording studio so your recording
must not be worth listening to. I would assume you would want people to judge your product based on if the final product is good rather than judging it on a single criteria without even listening to it.

Don't judge a book by its cover.

Yes I am an amateur recording artist. That's why I compared myself to an indie dev. They are amateurs as well. I still make my recordings as close to professional as possible. Not as close to 20 years ago as possible.

Point is this, if you guys like "old" graphics, then that fine for you. Just because we don't, don't go accusing us of being close minded. It's no different to the fact that I consider the mona Lisa an awful painting when apparently it's a great work of
art. It's all a matter of opinion.

  7. Music is vastly different from games though. Music isn't as interactive - you sit and listen to it and hope it evokes an emotion. With games, you DO it (in any number of ways) and it therefore evokes an even bigger reaction or emotion (or at least has more
of chance to). This is easily proven through how vocal many gamers are compared to people who like music. Although I'm sure they're there, you don't see music-lovers spewing their opinion nearly as much as you do with gamers. It's the latter that makes the
headlines in most cases nowadays. For that reason I don't think you can really compare because it's the whole apples and oranges argument.

...and Dufful, the game does have art design, it's just a very specific type of art design that you don't agree with. It's like saying you prefer today's rock music, but don't like the classics of Beethoven or Mozart. They're still popular by many and are
still considered relevant and very important even today, even though not everyone likes to listen to it - after all, it helped build upon the foundation of music as we know it today, exactly like the retro art-style is doing with video games. Since you relate
to music, that's my musical analogy.

As far as opinions go, Dufful, you're right - it is your opinion, and as I have already said, I'm fine with it. Using your own example of the Mona Lisa - you may not like it, but you can still recognize the fact that it's a huge historical piece of art.
What's happening here is that people are sharing their opinion about how they don't like the retro graphics of this and many other games (which again, is fine), but they don't seem to be realizing the monumental historical importance of said graphics and how
they paved the groundwork for the spectacular and realistic graphics you and others know and love today. Instead, they treat it like yesterday's garbage when it's anything but... These "retro" graphics may show their age, but they ARE still relevant and will
always continue to be. You and others should recognize that because right now, you're all failing to do so.

    Just to clarify something....

When we are referring to these graphics as "old" or "retro" that's not exactly true. These pixel style graphics never left. Anyone who plays JRPGS on the PS or DS has been playing games with these graphics for years and big games in that genre continue to
    get released with those graphics.

It works for some genres and I think fixing something that isn't broken would actually do more harm than good.

It's more of a "I won't turn my nose up on a game because of the graphics" rather than liking "8-bit". Personally think The Escapists looks more "fresh" than Evolve, and would hold my interest longer. I believe we are all a little "close minded" about different
things...surely you're open minded enough to see that? ;-)

    Peace, J.R.

  11. I just spent about 30 minutes watching someone Twitch stream this game to see if it's actually worthy of the purchase (which for some reason is currently on sale for me for $17.99 instead of $19.99, so that's nice). I watched the prisoner do favors for other
inmates by distracting the guard while the other inmates beat up other prisoners during lunch (which allowed for the player to then steal the contents of the knocked out inmates' pockets), go to exercise on a treadmill to build up his speed and strength, do
laundry and plant items on others' clothes, beat up a prison guard and steal his uniform while locking him into a cell without the keys, and stash his goods into a toilet - this game has a lot going for it, and that's evident from the game's description alone.
I would say the only thing I didn't like seeing from the game itself is that even when the on-screen characters are standing in place, their legs and arms are still moving as if they were walking or running. While it helps the characters look more animated,
it seems kind of out of place and even a bit jarring at times, IMO. Other than that though, I can see why this is an award-winning game through and through and will more than likely pick it up.

I've also just watched someone playing on twitch, and it pains me to say it because I hate this art style of games in this day and age, but I loved the gameplay, it's exactly my type of game and I've stuck it on download.

Look we will to agree to disagree on this subject as it is simply a matter of opinion. There really is no right or wrong answer. You'll just have to accept that I have different views to you.

Oh and one last thing GG. If you seriously think that people aren't as vocal about music compared to games, you seriously must get on very many music sites or watch much music on YouTube. Trust me when I say there are a lot more people in this world that
listen to music than play games and everybody is an armchair critic. Get on any music vid on YouTube, from the smallest amateur to the biggest bands in the world and just see how bad it gets.

And to say that games get more controversy than music is another wrong assumption. I read and watch the news everyday. Trust me when I say that music and music artists are on there way more than any games are. It's almost a daily accurances with simeone
doing something controversial in the music.

Poke your head up from your gaming world once in a while and you will see, on a global scale the gaming market is tiny compare to a lot of other things like music, art, sport and even the love of cars. We are a minority group.

Well the game is brutal to say the least, the only thing I don't like so far is that it really doesn't teach you anything, so for instance I have snipped through the grill in my cell but can't work out how to use the fake grill cover I have crafted but I'm
sure I'll figure it all out after a while - great little game.
