Will Xbox One S be compatible with non-compliant 4K televisions or receivers?

I've asked this question in the community section, and it seems like a no-brainer. I want to replace my current Xbox One with the new Slim (for its form factor and expanded HDD), but I'm unsure about HDMI connectivity because an article posted at "highdefdigest.com"
on June 17 mentions issues with HDCP 2.2. In other words, if you want to take advantage of UHD playback or HDR, you will need to connect to 4K-compliant devices.

My A/V receiver supports HDMI 2.0 and allows 4K passthrough, but it will not decrypt HDCP 2.2. To reiterate, I am not buying the Xbox One S for its non-gaming applications. So, before laying down the cash for the new Xbox One S, I just need confirmation
that my Xbox One games will run as standard (ie, 1080p) through HDMI.

Xbox one s not playing 4K blurays

So I am getting the same issue as the original poster my Xbox One S does upscale my games and everything works pretty good but I cannot get my UHD blu rays to display in 4K resolution. I am faced with this issue 0x91d7000a. It mentioned something about
hdcp compliancy, my television is hdcp 2.2 compliant on all 4 HDMI ports.

Yes the console can be plugged into any TV with a HDMI socket and it should work as the existing Xbox One does.

If you are connecting it to a 4K TV then the console should upscale the graphics to 4K and if both the TV and game support HDR you will get additional visual benefits from this.

Okay, that's two opinions which seem to indicate that the Slim SHOULD work 'as is'... not explicitly stating that it WILL work, however this is the official support forum, so I'll take that as a given. Thanks for the heads up, gds1972.

If the AV Reciever doesn't support 4k pass through that'll be the problem or if the AV receiver isn't HDCP 2.2 compliant. Try connecting the One S directly to the TV's input

It will all depend on if the game developer is supporting 4K plus HDR and also on what version of the Xbox One you are using. As an example both the disc and digital versions of Forza Horizon 3 running on an Xbox One S will display a HDR picture when connected
to a compatible television (And I believe 4K on Xbox One X when it launches).
