    Hello I got a monitor 1080p 120hz ips 5ms, with hdmi2.0 and wanna get an Xbox One S. I'm not really ready to upgrade yet to a 4K monitor as they are expensive ( and not really worth it at 27" size, to take advantage of 4K), plus they won't be any offer
    on game running 4K and at best, at 30Hz, but I d rather keep my monitor if I could know if some games will be updated to run at 1080p 60hz-120hz, and If the Xbox One S will be able to output it?

    So i'll be able to keep my set for a bit till hdmi2.1 monitors comes out, and then switch to Xbox One X, that will support hdmi2.1 too, so then it will be worth it, especially regarding the input lag.

    Xbox One X HDR in 1080p

    You'll be able to set the output of the Xbox One X to 1080p, and if a game supports HDR then the console will use it, I mean the Xbox One S supports HDR, so no reason why the Xbox One X would only allow it at 4K.

    Hello, My name is Jesse. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

    The Xbox One S is able to output at 120hz 1080p but no games will run above 60fps. The One S can recognize 120Hz displays but unless someone actually codes a game for the One S that can actually run at 120fps, that capability is almost useless.

    Just like 4k resolution - the One S can recognize 4k displays and render Netflix videos at that resolution but not one single game is actually able to render at 4k.

    Xbox One S and X does not support 4K at 120hz and to get 4K at 120hz you need a HDMI 2.1 port on both console and TV,

    also the Xbox One S is a 1080p console that upscales to 4K unlike the One X which is 4K console.

    Hi there!

    The Xbox One S does support 120hz at 1080p to 1440p resolution. If you set your console in 4K, you won't be able to use 120hz refresh rate. You can check the game's details via the Microsoft/Xbox Store if it supports 120fps or not. If it supports it, you should be able to use 120hz but your resolution should be set in 1080p or 1440p.
