Hi, I just started using Xbox Cloud gaming as I’m a student who’s main computer is a laptop and can’t afford a gaming rig.

I want to make Cloud Gaming my main place to play games but my experience so far is making me second guess that. Playing through Halo and a few other titles I am getting consistent lag despite having at home 30mbps and even when playing at a friend’s house with 200mbps.

I know Cloud Gaming is currently in beta, but playing it in optimum conditions (excellent internet with modern hardware) and STILL getting significant lag makes me concerned whether I want to invest in accessories and subscriptions for this.

Love the concept as a whole and really do want to make it my main gaming service if improvements are made.

Would really appreciate knowing if significant improvements are planned, especially from people on the team.

EDIT: Installing the latest canary build of edge significantly improved the experience. Halo is running almost perfectly other than some input lag.

    :)

Hi! Just installed Edge Canary and everything is running really well now! I hope some time whatever improvements you’ve made work across browsers but until then it might be good to have a “works best on edge” message somewhere on the website as playing it now, there is a SIGNIFICANT improvement.

    Thankyou for the response though

until there is a data centre right on your doorstep then there will always be latency, some games work ok but it is horrendous for shooters. besides they are all consoles games broadcast at 720p at best. its ok in a pinch but will never beat local hardware.

the entire network infrastructure needs to be updated globally for it to work the best, its the same with all cloud gaming services.
