Will xbox 360 live still continue by time it's 2016?

Hey guys I'm not sure if I should still buy live and it's 2015 I'm afraid that by time it's 2016 they might discontinue xbox live. I don't have that much money yet and I still want to continue my xbox 360

Hi,

No, unfortunately that isn't possible. The reason for this is that for backwards compatibility to be achieved, Xbox 360 games have to be reverse engineered and then recompiled by the BC team. This is why even when you have a 360 BC game on disc, you still
need to download it from Xbox Live. The 'update' is the game.

If you still have your Xbox 360, you can transfer your save games to the cloud and continue where you left off on your Xbox One. But, games must be downloaded again from Xbox Live.

So when the xbox one fails will they start making games for 360 again?

Xbox 360 will continue to be supported for the next few years by developers I'm sure, it's far too early to tell whether Xbox One is going to 'fail' at this point

I'm sure Xbox will not pull the plug in 2016, the xbox 360 has been a great console and the upset that it will make to the users. nope i don't think that will happen just yet.

I don't believe the 360 will retire LIVE services in 2016, I think that they will discontinue production on Xbox 360's but Xbox LIVE services will still be there.

I will still be on the 360 until Xbox Live is shut down in 2016 and then move over to the Xbox One.

Microsoft has officially pledged to support the 360 through at least 2016. This mainly applies to continued game support with new games and continuing to make the console available for sale as Live support should continue for many years after that as long
as the user base is large enough. Live on the original Xbox was supported for many years after the launch of the 360 and was only stopped in order to improve the network overall, which the original net protocols were holding it back.

As far as an educated guess goes, I would imagine "support" means that Microsoft's going to eventually stop warranty service repairs on Xbox 360 hardware soon, since they've discontinued all factory production of new Xbox 360 consoles back in April 2016.

Software support (which includes 360 achievements and Live multiplayer) should continue well past 2018, especially with the fact that Xbox 360 backward compatibility is still quite active on the Xbox One.

There shouldn't be anything to worry about. Keep getting those achievements!
