Will we EVER get decent pricing for digital games from Microsoft (UK)?

Personally I wish stores would just sell codes as well as discs. That way if people didn't want to have a physical copy to resell or whatever, they could just get a download code. It would be so much easier and then it would effect brick and mortar stores.

The reason why its cheaper to get games in physical format than digital in the UK compared to the US is that nearly every shop actually reduces the price. So for example the RRP for a game may be £50, but nearly all stores know very few people would pay
that, so they buy the games in huge quantities and get a bulk order discount which they pass on to the customer.

Also the likes of Tesco/Asda usually make a small loss on big titles for the first few days, knowing that people wi8ll go in and buy a game, but they could be enticed into buying other stuff.

Whether this happens in the US............I don't know.

When comparing U.S to U.K, remember you need to factor in VAT - which in the UK is 20%. This means that £8.33 of a £49.99 game goes to the UK Treasury. This tax is considerably more than in most U.S States, where tax varies from state to state. Also, the
prices on U.S store are excluding tax - the tax being added at the end of the transaction.

Yeah, every week with Deals with Gold. I bought Sherlock Holmes (surprisingly good) for 36 quid when it's much more than that normally.

I might buy Murdered Soul Suspect for 26 euro because everywhere I've seen it's still 50 euro or more.

Here in Aus, Cod AW is $36 less to by from Target. This happens all the time with new releases, Save $36 and have game on Disc? How I see it is that EB/GS, Xbla and PSN are the 3 places that sell games for $100 here. There's rarely a time that digital is
worth it for me.

One thing people REALLY need to stop doing (and not saying it was done in this thread), but comparing digital game prices with those of used games at (say) Gamestop. I hear that comparison a lot in these forums.

I, personally, have abandoned the physical disc model. Most of the games I buy/want, I purchase at release. So, the difference in price is non-existent. One of the few times I picked up a game a couple months after it was released was Plants vs. Zombies,
and in that instance, I waited for the game to be 33% off. Problem solved.
