Will using the Xbox profile of deceased user keep the account active?

Hi Community

My partner passed away a short while ago. I'm currently in the process of sorting out his estate etc. but one of the most important things to him was his xbox, games and profile. It is his device that we used and his account. If I continue to use his xbox for apps. will it keep his account active? I do not want to continue with an Xbox Live subscription but I am worried that his account will be deleted after 2 years if I'm only using the xbox for apps. I do not know his account login details.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you

As long as the account is signed in while doing so then it would keep it open.

Sorry for your loss in these trying times I know it can be difficult in handling etc for a deceased member. Here is a link you can follow. Once this is done an agent can transfer rights to you etc for billing if you prefer. Adding the profiles for your
