Will unlinking my account from the Microsoft website from a certain device take the account...

Don't worry we will work on this together. No it wont but I would recommend to change your password. In this way, if someone access it, he/she will be asked for the new password.

If the account you want to unlink is a Microsoft account, you can do so through your account settings on the Microsoft website. Sign in to your Microsoft account, go to the security and privacy section, and look for the option to manage devices or consoles linked to your account. From there, you'll be able to unlink the account from the console you don't have access to.

The only way to unlink a Microsoft account is by doing it from the Riot website.

I went to that website and signed in but it took me to a Microsoft support website with how to change your child's Xbox privacy and online safety settings. There is a link on the website which takes us to another website in order to change the privacy settings
but it just opens the same Microsoft support website. And as for unlinking my account and signing in with a different Microsoft account it tells me it was unable to unlink the account and to check my internet connection.

My user is not a child account

Believe you can unlink it from your account by doing the following on website go to microsoft account

https://account.microsoft.com/devices/

Click on your device and you should see a page that has warranty info serial number etc you will also see a click link that has a drop down menu labelled as "manage"

From there its quite easy.
