Will there be cross-platform for XBox & PS?

Do you guys think there will ever by cross-platform for Xbox and PlayStation? I have many friends who play on their PS4 and want me to get one, but I love the Xbox. They want to challenge me on Battlefield 1 but I like the feel and comfort of the Xbox.
Do you think there is a huge possibility for this to come to fruition?

Without a doubt, this feature is technically possible. However, there's "politics" behind it all that need to be sorted out by the platform owners (Microsoft, Sony).

There has been talks about it almost exactly a year ago, but no other news has come up ever since (as far as I remember reading). Some game developers are already on board with the idea, and I think Microsoft was the first to propose their openness to cross-platform
play.

I wouldn't count on it happening any time soon, though, due to the dead silence. For what it's worth, once anything concrete comes about for the future of this idea, then it will
definitely be big gaming news.
