    I don't think we'll see a console but a 'Windows Machine'.

Set hardware and a designed for gaming interface but with the option to boot into a proper version of Windows for other things.

I don't think in my life time I will see digital take full control over physical media although I do believe it will happen.

I think there will be. Microsoft acquired Minecraft, which is a great strategic move since millions play the game and the game is like at the top of the Xbox Live activity charts (Xbox 360/Xbox 1, definitely for Xbox 360), and they make Windows OS which
runs many PC's out there. Windows 10, Cortana, Halo, Forza, etc. It's great to see a liked company like Microsoft, taking advantage in the video gaming market. Video games is a fun hobby. Microsoft doesn't have to be the best, but I would say they are definitely
amongst the best. They also acquired Skype too. Social and gaming is what many people want to do. Maybe we'll see a console with a 9.5Ghz octa-core processor with 64GB GDDR17 RAM. Just kidding. But it's the experience people get out the platform rather than
how new or specs good it is. Take Xbox 360, it still has more lingering and playing on it, than Xbox 1. Me and several others including my friends, still play more on Xbox 360 than on Xbox 1. Even though Xbox 360 has weaker hardware, it still packed with a
lot of fun and Microsoft does an awesome job with it.

Microsoft knows video gaming and social (Xbox Live/Skype) has many users, I prefer gaming using a controller rather than a PC keyboard on my laptop. Another advantage with consoles is reports of viruses on genuine Xbox 360 and Xbox 1 consoles is negligible,
where as PC's yeah they do get viruses that's why people install internet security software. Another advantage with consoles is there is no system requirements or recommended requirements for games. Manufacturers like HP etc are still making new computers
with only 2 or 4GB RAM. Xbox 1 has 8GB RAM. The Sims 3 can't even play on my HP Pavilion dv6 which has intel core i5 processor Windows 7 Home and 4GB RAM and 1GB AMD HD Radeon 6490 without crashing and everything.... on my PC, is up to date. But The Sims 3
plays fine on my Xbox 360 slim console.

When we all have internet connections like Romania or South Korea then I can see us streaming everything. America is a huge market so they would need their internet to get up to snuff first. They are lagging behind many other countries in that regards.

We will see another 'xbox' as that is the new name for the entertainment branch of MS... It just might not be the typical console that many are used to (imo of course)

  6. Viruses don't just magically appear on your PC Smiles, they require user participation to get there. People run anti-virus software for the same reason they insure their property, just in case.

Besides Windows has included its own anti-virus software, as Windows Defender, since 2012. It's also built into Windows 10.

This is why I am wondering about them allow mods on Fallout 4. To get them to work Microsoft are going to have to allow more access to how the system works than ever before. Could this open up the One for the less canny gamer to download a virus to it?

I will also be getting a new PC when retail stores/manufacturers start selling new PC's with Windows 10 already on it. Windows 10 came out late July and I read reports that HP won't have new PC's with Windows 10 till maybe October or later this year, selling
in retail stores especially in NZ/Australia. Sure people with Windows 7 and 8.1 can upgrade, but traces of the OS your PC's manufacturer put on it, will still be there. And when new PC's with Windows 10 pre-loaded on it come out, they're going to likely have
newer graphics cards and processors than what has already been out for a while.

One of my friends asked me when was the last time I played on Xbox 1, I said something like Tuesday or Sunday last week. He said OMG but we still love to play on Xbox 360 more. The obvious reasons are there are more people especially our bffs on it, and
it has games which Xbox 1 may not have. Yes Xbox 1 has backwards compatibility (I don't think it's out for 'everyone' maybe it is now?). Don't get me wrong, Xbox 1 is a good console I have the Xbox 1 Day 1 with Kinect and I love the stuff you can do with Kinect
and how games look and perform better on Xbox 1 than 360. There are people who prefer using a controller than a PC keyboard on your computer, for gaming. Both console and PC platforms have their advantages and disadvantages. Streaming is an idea, but no one
not even Microsoft, ISP's, has 'perfect internet'. And many modems use wi-fi on the 2.4Ghz frequency or such with some on the 5.0Ghz frequency, and houses have walls which may interfere with wi-fi as well as if several devices are using home network at once,
and when you live in a suburb filled with 2.4Ghz frequencies even though you home network wi-fi has a limited range like when you walk down the street you're out of range. I think Microsoft will role out a new console in 5 or 10 years time. But only time will
tell. I did go off topic a bit here, but thought I'd just get it all out.

"Sure people with Windows 7 and 8.1 can upgrade, but traces of the OS your PC's manufacturer put on it, will still be there."

You do know that you can do a clean install with the upgrade, right? You do the upgrade which assigns Windows 10 to your PC and then you can make it reinstall itself as a 'clean' version.

From another site: To reset your Windows 10 PC, open the Settings app, select Update & security, select Recovery, and click the “Get started” button under Reset this PC. Select “Remove everything.” This will wipe all your files, so be sure you have backups.

That's the easiest method but there are other ways to put a clean version of Windows 10 on your PC.

Actually before Microsoft and Sony confirmed the specs for Xbox 1 and PS4, I saw on Wikipedia something like 8th gen consoles called Xbox 720 and PS4 having a 5.0Ghz or 9Ghz processor, but those articles got taken down. The PS4 casing looked like one of
those music discs when you play Minecraft on the City Texture Pack.

As for Windows 10 and PC, I'm waiting til retail stores start selling them. Better to let the manufacturers do the homework for you since they're the professionals, rather than some kid. Also when they do come out in retail stores, they should be equipped
with newer processors and graphics cards, than PC's which have already been out for a while/long time. I think there will be another Xbox console after Xbox 1. If you ask me, I think the Xbox brand is a successful one and would dislike to see it die. Consoles
are cheaper than buying a good PC. There are also no specs to worry about like PC requirements for games. And certain people prefer playing with a controller rather than a PC keyboard. When I do get my new PC hopefully soon, I plan on getting The Sims 4 and
Minecraft PC version as several of my friends have that version. I have the pocket edition but hardly play it. Max, talking about upgrading, I have a Samsung S5 and I could upgrade it to lollipop the latest android OS. But I read people who have upgraded it
have encountered bugs and want Samsung to fix it. I could have gone for iphone or the S6, but the S6 didn't come out til this year and unlike the iphone, I've dropped my S5 badly twice and it bounced like a tennis ball and is not damaged. I even used it in
the rain a few times since it has an IP water resistant protection rating thing, but it shouldn't be abused. I do have a case for it.

Hey smileskybird, how's gaming in Australia now since the introduction of R18+ rating in video games since 2013?

I'm thinking about moving to Australia one day (to start my movie or gaming career), seriously.

  12. PC is Xbox now steve, Microsoft themselves have closed the distinction.

Xbox wouldn't vanish if this was the last console generation. Remember why it was called Xbox in the first place. It was because of DirectX.

Kind of curious to be honest Smiles that if you prefer gaming on a console then why are you going to buy a new PC. Your current one will continue to work and be capable of running Windows 10.

Seems like an unnecessary expense to me. Especially when there are many great games coming to the Xbox One the money could be spent on instead.

Will there be another Xbox console after the Xbox One?

hmm I'm guess your right, which is a smart move if you think about it.

I think once the smoke has settled the PC gamers will embrace this idea, you see there is a lot of PC forums with PC gamers who moan about current PC games blaming consoles, saying they are holding PC gaming back.

a lot of these type of comments you will notice come from people who own silly high end PC's, but the masses don't.

being in the PC scene for years and anyone one else who's been in to the PC hardware scene will Know its mostly the elitist who demand the bragging rights that preach what is best.

its plain as day you only have to visit a couple of well know website forums to see it for ya self.

I care more about the gaming these days and don't care about the spec's been there done that.

    @Steve

You keep saying that your a "former" PC gamer but everything that comes out of your mouth is something that the anti-PC gamer would say based on old stereotypes.

PC gamers who moan about current PC games blaming consoles, saying they are holding PC gaming back.

I don't see anyone saying that in the dozen or so PC forums I frequent. Developers stopped pushing hardware years ago. The only impact that the console has on PC gaming that you'll see complained about is the "dumbing" down of games.

For a "former" PC gamer you seem to have a very negative view of it and most of your comments don't hold water. You claim to be one thing yet every comment you make is that of the typical console gamer.
