Will the Xbox Series S SSD get slow if it’s full?

    Hello,

I can’t find this answer anywhere and would like an Xbox expert or engineer to put my mind at ease. I own an Xbox Series S and have it down to 95 percent full (18 gigs remaining from the original 364ish totally empty when I bought it new). It’s an SSD drive. I’ve read that if you fill it beyond 70 to 90 percent capacity it begins to noticeably slow down and effect performance. Is this an issue with the drive in my system? Will it ever be an issue? Do I need to be cognizant of how much I fill it with? Do I need to make room for better performance or has this already been taken care of through the non usable system partition or design???

Any definite answer is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

    :)

Will the Xbox Series S SSD get slow if it’s full?

Hello, first it's a pleasure to be able to help you today.

My name is welcome to the community.

Hello Redfox1337Z, this may indeed occur but the Xbox operating system which is actually a modified Windows 10 has a very effective memory and cache management, sometimes when you have your HD very full beyond 80% what can happen is it doesn't have room to swap, i.e. manage the temporary files of the games you're running, opening closing etc.

Because Series S and X have SSD management becomes more efficient, but if you notice any slowness do a cache cleanup on the console.

    1. Go to xbox press and hold the XBOX power button on your console for 10 seconds until it turns off

    2. Wait 10 seconds for it to turn off

    3. Wait 1 minute with it off

    4. Turn it back on

If you talk about the xbox internal HD it can't and shouldn't be partitioned the system needs to be at the root before you can run the games.

Hello, my question is what's all the ssd expansion card I can use for xbox series x. Thanks

Only the Seagate Expansion and the WD Black C50 work for Series X|S games. All other SSD's can only be connected via the USB port and they are too slow for Series X|S games

Why can I not install game pass games on the USB external hard drive?

When will we be able to play xbox series X/S games from a external drive?

It would just like to add that Series X|S games are developed to only use faster storage. Not only is this storage totally different to a mechanical hard drive, the way games are loaded is also different. In addition, the Xbox Series X|S hardware can leverage additional resources to load to games from internal SSD or external SSD's even faster, what Microsoft calls its Xbox 'Velocity Architecture'.

As previously stated, you're never going to be able load your Xbox Series X games from an external hard drive. They're just too slow.

I need help with my series s

It's because the Series S/X are new gen. They require the xbox SSD. You are using an HDD. SSD's are way faster than an SSD, the series s is trying to run the 120fps and higher graphics. Thats why they are telling you to move the games. It wants you to play them on the internal SSD storage.
