Will The Xbox One Ever Stop Renting Their Games With Gold?

Small world! My employer compensates me with money too!

Personally don't care if Games With Gold are rentals, as Gold can usually be picked up for $39.99 a year; think there has only been a couple times I paid full price. Can't see M.S. changing their policy unless Sony does.

 

^ Some games on PS+ are free to play online, such as No Mans. But why would MS follow Sony?

Oh right. "Lead, follow, or get out of the way." Guess playing "Follow the leader" is the 1 thing MS is good at! (sarcasm)

PS+ also gave away Yakuza 5 this month, I mean this is worth a years subscription alone. Garbage with gold as Goth Vampirella calls it is actually fantastic in my mind regardless of my overwhelming wealth and willingness to let everyone know that I'm too
good for it.

 

If they offer you something for free, you get to keep it for free and it should be that way even if you no longer want to mantain a gold subsription. Most of the time on xbox 360 and xbox 1 they offer games im totally not interested in. If you pay for games
they are legally yours. You shouldnt need to be online to play them. With the sims 4 cities skylines and planet coaster on my pc if my pc is not connected to the net the software asks for my password then it lets me play those games offline.

 

^ They don't offer anything for free, there's a little thing called terms and conditions which spell out the criteria of the offer very clearly, and you don't legally own any game or piece of software, you own a licence to use or play that software.

 

I don't know man, if you're paying for gold just for GWG you're doing it wrong.

 

Exactly.Gwg is a benefit/perk of being a gold member.You don't pay for gold just to get the games.

I remember those heady days when we didn't get offered any free games for having a gold membership.

Technicaly you don't own any games you buy digitaly.

I really do wonder why you bought an Xbox One sometimes or would buy any gaming console for that matter.

So you pay say $120.00 US for Fallout 4 digital delux edition, but all you really bought was a licence and not a. Whether physical or digital, a copy of the game.

And if you lose the net, you can't play those games offline for your xbox console HAS to connect via xbox live to set the console to. 'play offline.'

So yes Badger, I wonder and am amazed why any sain person would buy an xbox, or continue to support it.

As for this licence thing, that just proves that lawmakers would sell their own country to get reelected, and corrupt companies are the ones paying them to do it. Often for no less than a bowl of soup.

From the looks of it, you do not have to be online in order to set the console to offline mode.

From support - "We recommend that you don't set your console to offline if you experience a network, ISP, or Xbox Live service outage. Although your console will show as being offline, it will automatically reconnect as soon as a connection is available.
You can still use several Xbox One features even if your console can't connect to the service."

Now it stands to reason that if you experience a network, ISP, or XBL outage, that means you're not connected to begin with... yet they're recommending that you don't set your console to offline because it will try to reconnect as soon as a connection is
available.

So it also stands to reason that doesn't mean you can't go offline when you aren't connected... it just means they don't recommend it.
