Will The Xbox One Ever Stop Renting Their Games With Gold?

First I should start this thread by saying I am
not a loyal fangirl who expects MS to give me anything for free. I am employed and they give me this stuff called money.


I actually am not even a fan of what I usually refer to as
GARBAGE WITH GOLD, but with that said, I realize some people are delusional and think they are loyal and therefore deserve things.

Unless I'm kwazy, and I am btw, I know that if you download a GWG offering from the Xbox 360, it is yours to keep even if you cancel your gold subscription.


When the Xbox One started, they didn't do this, and I actually understand why. At the time there was just not a large amount of games. It made sense. Now however, we are approaching the Xbox One's 3 year anniversary and
Scorpio is just around the corner. There are plenty of games IMO.

So again, unless I'm kway kway, and I still am btw, I'm wondering if MS will ever start letting those who choose to download Xbox One's GWG actually keep it if they cancel their gold subscription.

Any one else have thoughts?

How to never spend more than $10 on a game

well renting mite come to a stop if microsoft does what their trying to do and that is ban used games on the new xbox so good luck with renting.

Yeah id imagine..I have no problems renting servers but i may just wait until everyone and their mother stops clogging up space(including me) renting servers...I only rented it for a week,so if no one plays i'll just stop renting it.

I don't think so. Giving people games gives them an incentive to keep paying for their subs. Some people could pay €6.99 for 1 month and get 4 games and never pay again. How does that benefit MS?

It really blows the way digital and Games With Gold games are handled. Take me for example. I just moved into my new place and unfortunately my internet provider isn't able to get to my place to install internet and TV for a few days. Right now I can't play
any game I own and bought digitally with my hard earned money that I have downloaded to my external storage device even offline unless it's a disc version.

That is lame! So these past few days I've been on my PS4 where I can do as a please...

 

At first I was mad about this, simply because it use to free with gold on 360. Allthough the amount of games with 4 a month seems to make up for the fee to pay for gold to play them. That's a average of a game a week opening up for you to play. Games are
unlocking faster than we can finish them. What more can we really ask for in a games with gold program.

 

I tried to relay this just before E3 2016, and it didn't go too well. Yet I didn't put it as well as you did, nor claim to be 'kwazy' but yet I felt that this GwG policy worked well with the 360, yet fell short with what I termed. Rentals with Gold on the
X1.

But I guess just like remastered games which should have never been, corporate (MS, Pubs/Devs has a. "Milk em dry" mentality this generation.

 

Crafty, you saying that without being connected to the net, that you cannot play purchaged digital games on the X1 even if you set the console to go offline?

If true, then imo, that should be on the front page of every gaming news media outlit worldwide.

 

Doesn't Playstation Plus Free games require a subscription as well?

If so, I'm sure its checked online.

 

I have to set the console to go offline?? I will try that tonight and hopefully that works. I bought a few games digitally in anticipation of a moment like this where I would be without internet for an extended period of time. Red Dead Redemption and Sleeping
Dogs Definitive Edition for the Xbox One, God of War III Remastered for the PS4. When I tried to load up Xbox Live, it told me to sign into Xbox Live.

 

^^ You also need to set your console as your home console.If you are not connected to live you might not be able to do that.

My internet went down the other day & I was able to play my digital games no problem on my home console but not on my other one.

Back on topic,having a gold membership has benefits,one of those benefits is downloading & being able to play 4 free games,2 on the Xbox One.

It's not like a years gold is expensive,especially if you shop around.If they keep it the way it is on the Xbox One i'm not really bothered.

The majority of people who moan about it are probably the same people who expect something for nothing a lot of the time.

 

Its not like its getting something for nothing. Back when you could drop Gold and get reembursed for unused months. I was going to drop my 1 year subscription, but was told. "Why not keep it as now you can get 3 games per month. 2 360 titles and lay claim
to 1 X1 title."

So i took that advise but then learned that with the X1. It was just smoke and mirrors. So unless you're MP gaming, xbl on the X1 isn't worth a wooden Nickle.

Cept for 360 BC titles, and the majority of those to go BC are arcade and indy titles.

 

I too earn this thang called money, therefore I always have a gold sub and the GwG 'renting' doesn't really bother me.... That being said, there hasn't been a single Xbox One GwG game that I would want to keep that I didn't own already.

MS found out what other services have known for a while. By offering extra content, like GwG, with your service you keep people tied to your services. That is, if that content requires the service to play. I know people that pay for gold just for the
"free" games. They also subscribe to Amazon for the prime music. But to keep that prime music they must stay subscribed. Same kind of concept.
