Will the power of the Xbox One put an end to bad movie based video games?

It's not the fact that they're based on movies that make many tie-ins bad. It's the fact that the games are rushed out the door with their pants down in order to coincide with the release date of the movie. You can put together a great movie in 6 months
to a year. That doesn't even begin to cover the time needed to make a game. Alot of games based on movies have been great. Riddick, Wolverine, Ghostbusters, to name a few. As long as there is no ridiculous time frame to keep, there is no reason they can't
make a great game.

 

It cannot be as bad as King Kong, can it ? Alien Isolation should be fine.

 

I am hoping Alien: Isolation is fine. It has a genuinely different approach to it that may make it stand out from all other Alien games that have preceded it.

Agreed... The Riddick games are my definite favorite movie tie in games of all time... Both of them far exceeded my expectations, and really tied in well with the movies. I suppose it could also be in part due to Vin Diesel's Tigon Games studio being involved...
It was more personal.

Also, I agree with Sword on Wolverine... Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Indiana Jones & the last crusade-Amiga 500......

Alien isolation isn't base on a movie but a franchise.

And it seems really good.

Rocksteady,did/do a good job with Batman franchise.

But good games based on a movie are very rare.

 

I hear ET on Atari was great!

 

I loved the Butcher Bay and Escape from Dark Athena 360 double pack, great value and brillant games if anyone hasnt played em. I also have a guilty secret that I enjoyed the Captain America game on the 360. And if we are talking franchises then KOTOR!

 

escape from butcher bay on xbox was awesome and just as good revisited on 360 - Assault on dark athena was pretty good too.

Still cant beat goldeneye on the 64 though.

LOTR games are good if you like that setting and can use your imagination to immerse into it.

things like spiderman etc are just awful (Batman arkham series has been good so far though)

 

I enjoyed playing both Saw games. The Green Lantern & Captain America weren't bad

I should mention, I bought all those games out of a $9.99 bargain bin. If I had paid full price, my opinion would be different.

Xbox one won't change a thing. As mentioned before, most movie based video games are usually slapped together to make a quick buck. It's the developers/studios that are the problem, not the hardware.

 

I liked king Kong the video game, ghost busters the video game also Alien isolation looks really good

It is so messed up that the game developers who make these games have such a short amount of time & ridiculously low budgets. I feel really bad for them

While a couple of movie based games have managed to transcend this curse of being horrible and become epic / awesome , these rushed out catastrophies should never cost more than the price of a movie ticket.

Some of the games you guys are mentioning aren't movie tie in games.....they are just games in the universe.

The KOTOR games are not movie based games.
