Will the new call of duty cycle breathe life into the franchise?

Michael says that Call of Duty has no co-op. Then what is Spec Ops, Zombies and Extinction? If you're going to hate, at least do so informed.

I'm really hoping that Sledgehammer can rekindle my love for Call of Duty. As it stands now, it went from a game that I could play for hours on end to a game that I enjoy in short bursts. I blame it on fatigue though - I have overplayed it and the formula
is tired for me.

 

the new 3 year dev cycle will probably hopefully allow the devs to play with new gameplay and write somewhat better stories...though that bar is pretty low, so it can't be too hard.

@ Dead Dweller - There are plenty of 'better' games out there. I beat Ryse, Wolfenstein and Tomb Raider. I had a ton of fun exploring the worlds of watchdogs, assassins creed and dead rising. I played franchises in Madden, nba 2k and UFC. I had a lot
of fun in bf and titanfall. But what it all comes back to is call of duty. I love the simplicity. It's straight forward gun on gun. It's fast and smooth. Sure it's the same thing over and over every year, but I'm not sure if a major change would be a
good thing. Sometimes I wonder if they are adding too much. Call of Duty 4 had much fewer options but I thought it was the best of the series. I still play it today. Imo, there is no real competition for COD when it comes to mp fps.

 

Show me someone who doesn't like "Call Of Duty" and I'll show you a person who know what they like and what they don't like.

Show me someone who says "Call Of Duty" is a bad game and I'll show you someone who couldn't spot a good game if it sold over 100 million copies.

 

I don't know if it's possible to breathe new life into that game. The entire genre is so old and played out, but what is their motivation to change anything? They're sitting on a gold mine. They don't need to change a thing, the model works.

 

@Tyson yes Call of Duty has Spec Ops and Extinction but thats not coop campaign which would attract alot of people. You still upset I trashed COD on twitter aint you? God give it a rest. There are much better games out there,sorry that you cant stop being
a blind fanboy to see that.

 

It's going to sell no matter what. It's in the top three of reserves at my store, and most stores in my district. I'm not the biggest Call of Duty fan, but I still end up buying it every year.

 

You're welcome to continue acting as if Activision kidnapped your wife and children and did very bad things to them. We'll see in time who's the bigger fool - me for *gasp* liking a tired franchise or you for your stupidly high level of hate.

 

The last time Call of duty had a co-op campaign, it had to exclude two entire levels because it didn't fit. Honestly, I'd rather have distinct co-op mode than trying to shore-horn it in. Buuut I only like the competitive mp in COD titles anyways.

 

Agreed. I think they need to introduce the first open world COD if they want to do coop. The last time it was coop there was a weird point system and everyone wanted to run ahead guns a blazing to get higher combos.

I wonder if a true storyline with a huge open world would bring in all the cod haters/hardcore gamers back.

 

There are no "COD Haters".

There are only people who played the game, didn't come top of the leaderboards and are convinced the only possible explanation for this is that the game is broken or flawed.

If you people want to really talk about re-used games lets talk about the Battlefield Series. We all know BF4 was so lagy. It was just horrible at times also the released BF4 directly after BF3. They used the same guns and used some new ones and maybe new
maps ooh exciting. The campaign was not satisfying for me, as it used the same mournful music for sad scenes. In my opinion all of the FPS Genre should die so it could be reborn in a few years lol. ( I can hear the fan boy replies coming soon)
