Will/Should Xbox Kinectless come with voice commands?

@tohe, I went to one of the Uk Xbox tour dates just before launch and they had a developers session, although it wasn't really for developers it did show what it could do and was really impressive, I wish they would increase their PR.

want to yell and with a mic, they wouldn't have to.

Being closer to their mouth, a lesser volume of speech could be used. This would be handy for those who may have other people in the house asleep.

 

if you setup the kinect properly you don't have to yell at it, but you can't whisper at it either.

 

Kinect does know who is talking to a certain extent. When two different people (who are both recognized by Kinect) say "Xbox Show my stuff" different screens pop up. I can only imagine it will be refined more in the future.

I can whisper at my Kinect if my fan is turned off. Just saying... If you can talk on MP at night you can use Kinect too.

 

might need to re calibrate mine, don't think i did the sound loud enough for whisper, I am only 6-7 feet away, and I have to talk for it to hear me. Talk is a level i am more than happy with, whisper would be wasted on me

 

If you're yelling at your Kinect sensor in order to try to get it to respond to you, then you're doing it wrong.

 

I can't speak for the 2.0 of course but I certainly had to raise my voice over my normal speaking level to get Kinect 1.0 to recognise me.

Not a problem in the day but it got me a few "shut up" at night.

I take it that the 2.0 microphone is significantly better at picking up sound?

 

Kinect hears me better when I whisper than shout, and that's even when I'm playing a game.

 

It'd be nice if they enable mic use like on ps4, i don't use my kinect, this would give me an option if i wanted to use voice commands

 

@voteDC I don't know if its any better but I can whisper for the first Kinect too. Maybe Kinect is good at picking up the bass in my voice.

 

Very possible Burst. I don't have a lot of bass in my voice.

 

The kinect 2 is significatly better K1, didn't have anywhere near the process to setup, to ensure it knows you from the background.

@Karma if you read the other posts people have explained why it isn't as simple as plugging in a mic .
