    Better Together, purchases and family accounts

    My son and I have just started to play Minecraft again, and have noticed that I am able to access everything but he is not. He cant access all our old Skins.

    This may be connected but I started the Realms free trial so my lad and his mates can play, however he cannot add friends to the realm even though I gave him Operator rights.

    Not likely, however the Xbox live edition is a multi platform version (and does allow realms and servers) and if u have purchased X1 edition I do believe Xbox live edition is free but not 100% sure of that, I know I had purchased X1 edition and I got the
    Xbox live edition completely free almost a year later however I am also an Xbox insider and I may have gotten it free cuz I tested the Beta. I like the Xbox live edition better anyway there is a lot of features X1 edition doesn't have but if u want a custom
    flatland map u have to make it with X1 edition and sync it to the cloud then use Xbox live edition to convert old saves.

    Connect to external server using Windows 10 Edition

    With Minecraft: Windows 10 Edition, you can connect and play online with friends on Pocket Edition as well as the Xbox One Edition. However, until the full rollout of the upcoming Better Together update for Minecraft, you aren't able to connect to servers
    outside of realms and what I've previously mentioned.

    Cross play on Minecraft is only available to xbox one, mobile, nintendo switch and windows 10 devices which has the better together/bedrock edition.

    Realms is only available on these version of the game.

    Can not do cross play between different version of the game.

    Minecraft Windows 10 Edition on Xbox One?

    Hi Spyroflame,

    Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums with this question. The Minecraft: Windows 10 edition is only playable on that platform and if you wish to play on Xbox One, then that would require the purchase of that edition of the game. There is a crossplay
    feature that will allow for cross platform play between the two as well. I'm including some handy article relating to this issue to help get you started:
