Will Rare survive without Kinect?

Understandably, but weren't some of the people who were "let go" 15 - 20 year Rare company veterans. Seem's unlikely they would have completed dozens of projects only for this one to be their last due to staff turnover.

Good games or not, their previous releases (bar kinect sports 1) haven't set the world on fire. It's difficult to see where they go from here. As much as I'd love another viva pinata, conker - inevitably it'll sell poorly, with artistic merit and it'll be
another nail in the coffin.

Im not in the business but once a game is developed.. made.... published.. they usually only keep a few on for patches and fixes and the rest of the team sort of gets laid off and move onto new projects... that is how it is right? only the top dogs ans
suits stay with Rare and the low level guys get shifted around...

Major, I don't know who makes the decision on who to layoff, but the reasons certain people are chosen over others can be numerous. Maybe some of the people they hired recently are more talented, or spent more time in the office (younger, have no family
obligations) and that made them more valuable.

As for their games, I think it has been more the types of games they have made versus the quality. Viva Piñata was reviewed well, and most people seemed to like it, but it was more of a child game and lacked the broad appeal. The Kinect Sports games are
obviously limited to whoever has a Kinect and wants to play motion games.

My guess is no seeing as that's pretty much the only reason Microsoft seemed to be keeping them around for and since the layoffs due to Kinect Sports and Microsoft releasing the X1 without a kinect bundled will probably put them under.

As they said before the release of Kinect Sport Rivals.Rare got other projects,even some that doesn't involve Kinect....

@kingvas - a fair point, and of course I'm sorry to see people facing hardship. But Rare ARE on a downwards spiral, a cold seller like KSR undoubtedly does not help. I've heard rumour of a new third-person Perfect Dark which could be great; I hate seeing
names I grew up with drop by the wayside.
