Will my Xbox One overheat if I put it on a shelf?

I want to put my Xbox One on a shelf, the only thing is that the side vents are basically covered by sides of the shelf.

Will it Overheat or will it be fine?

Xbox 360 slim

My Xbox 360 slim keeps on overheating I cleaned the inside of the 360 and put back together and it sill overheats and it is in a well ventilated area. Can someone help figure why it still overheats

I appreciate the advice, but I'm not sure if you understand. Normally, when it overheats for real, I get the two red rings. But while playing GTA 5, I get the two red rings, but I can't feel any excess heat like if I were to keep my xbox running until it
actually overheats or even for a few hours. So, can certain games put extra strain on an xbox? If that's the case, then I can understand the extra cooling. I just don't want to put out the cash unless I'm sure it will help.

 

I have my xbox on a shelf on my entertainment center that is designed for a vcr and I haven't had any problems with it. My xbox its on top of my TiVo that's on the shelf. Make sure that the air intake vents are not covered and you should be fine.

 

If the air vents on the sides are covered is not recommend to have it put in the shelf as the air flow will be affected and this may lead to overheating problems.
