Will my saves still be there if I replace game disc with digital version?

My Red Dead Redemption 2 disc won't read and I noticed that it's on sale on the Microsoft store so my question is if I buy the digital version will my saves still be there from my disc version. I did the same thing with farm simulator and the saves did not transfer over but I know Red Dead is made by a bigger company.

Hello Conor R! I'm Kris and I'd be happy to help you with your question.

Unfortunately disc and digital licenses are classed as different so you need the disc to be able to confirm you own the license for it. As long as the saves are the same version of the game, the saves will still work no matter if they are digital or disc based games. I know in some cases, the complete version of a game uses a different save to the standard version so you would not see a save for it.

I think you can with the game. Game saves it dosen't matter it disc or digital versions of the game. You can uses the save in both version.

Your progress is not written on the disc. Replacing the disc, or buying the game digitally has no effect on the save-file. The save-file is bound to your gamertag on the hard-drive. No need to worry about the save-file going lost when you replace the disc

Since you do not own the digital version of the game you can not play it unless you replace the disc or buy the game digital. The disc is used to verify ownership of the game.

You can buy the digital version via phone wifi. However if you do not have internet connection after that make sure your Gamertag is set as Home on your xbox so you can still play offline.
