Will Microsoft tolerate hate speech and abuse? PLEASE INVESTIGATE

I regularly play Call of Duty 3 with the same group of experienced players. Unfortunately, one player does his best to disrupt play and harass other players. Part of his abuse is the frequent use of hate speech. Many of his comments are angry homophobic
slurs and racially inappropriate insults.

Last night, after he directed a homophobic slur at me, I confronted him about this. I asked him to stop this behavior and he then pushed me out of the game ("Game session no longer available"). He then followed me from game to game, electronically excluding
me over and over. Each time that he did this, I filed multiple complaints through Xbox for inappropriate language and tampering. There should be a record of where and when he did this last night. He has computer programs (he plays the game through his PC)
and mods which allow him to exclude other players as he likes.

This morning, he used electronic means to force me out of the same game session FIVE times. I filed a contemporaneous complaint each time he did it.

Microsoft cannot tolerate this type of hateful behavior. There are children and teenagers playing Call of Duty every night, and they should not be exposed to this language. Please do something about this. This person has been getting away with hateful and
abusive behavior, and it is time for Microsoft to take action and protect a safe and comfortable gaming environment.

When I named this person earlier today, the Moderator deleted my posts, and advised me that I could not name a specific individual. I am glad that the Moderator has now seen my complaint, as I called Xbox support and was advised to post complaints to the
forums. I will be happy to provide very specific information about my complaint and the identity of the perpetrator if contacted by email.

This isn't something that just started they've been doing it for over 6 months now. I don't care if this account breaks the forum rules whats important is they get stopped. I came on here to report them and that's what I will do. It's getting ridiculous,
how can Microsoft not do anything about this? They have literally stolen hundreds of dollars worth of video games.

 

Xbox Live Enforcement should removed/improved

So question. Since we have no freedom of speech on xbl, we must read off scripts from microsoft? cause i doubt ANYONE does that except the support staff when you contact support but thats for professionalism. Microsoft should ban everyone since everyone
doesnt read off scripts and exercise at least some degree of free speech.

What im getting at is

A. It is unnatural. No one reads off a script except support. so thats free speech right there.

B. Microsoft tolerates free speech as long as its not bullying or bad words or which intentionally strongly hurts or harms microsoft.

C. If microsoft didnt tolerate free speech, everyone would have to read off scripts approved by microsoft when chatting in parties game chat and public lobbies. If ms didnt tolerate this sort of freedom of speech, 32 million people or so on xbl would get
banned.

D. MS tolerates freedom of speech, up to a certain extent. They ONLY not tolerate it if it breaks the code of conduct. I do not see in the code of conduct that you have no freedom of speech (even in the terms where it says applicable law your countries laws
govern interpretation of contract). they acknowledge our legal rights.

CONCLUSION. Yes you have rights. you can chat without a script. as long as you xont break the coc you should be fine. ms has a code of ethics. they dont cruelly banninv anyone. its when someone geniunely has breaken the reasonable coc stuff.

 

Report via console, block communication and move on.

 

Please stop making multiple threads about this.

You have been told several times that the only way to report someone is via your console.

Support have given you the wrong info.You can't report anyone on the forums,it must be via your console.

 

It is like support are deliberately trying to get people banned from the forum, as 'reporting' on here is far more likely to get the OP banned from the forum than the other person from LIVE.

 

DB--Thank you for your opinion, friend. However, a customer service supervisor advised me to do this. I did not realize that I could not name the abuse perpetrator, and my posts earlier today were removed with instructions from the Moderator that I could
not identify the abusive individual.

It is unfortunate that you feel it is important to stand up for a racist homophobe. I would hope that you would be more interested in fixing the problem than perpetrating it.

DB--I, and many others who play COD 3 regularly, have attempted to address the issue as you suggest.We have reported him though our consoles. We have tried, and tried and tried. This person's harassment continues, and it has not "fixed" the problem.

I contacted Xbox customer service. I spoke with a Supervisor, and this is what he told me to do. I hope it makes a difference. I have some faith that Microsoft cares about this type of abuse, and will do something about it.

As far as your suggestion re: "do's and don'ts"...read it, get it. My mistake. I won't be identifying anyone by gamertag again.

Unfortunately some customer support agents seem clueless when it comes to reporting people or the rules of the forums.

If you were told to post here then it's not your fault but it wont achieve anything.Reporting via your console is the only way to bring certain xbox live members to the attention of the enforcement team.

Xbox live PET do not read these forums.

The only thing you can do is report via the console. Bringing it to the forums will have zero effect on the outcome because no one here can look into the complaint for you. Moderators are forum moderators and they volunteer their spare time to help make
these forums a better place. We have absolutely no access to filed complaints. The only people with access to those are the PET (Enforcement Team) and the only way to get their attention diverted on a specific user is to file a complaint on the console. You
have done all you can do, my advice would be to move on and continue to enjoy your gaming. No one here condones any sort of harassment, we are simply providing you with the facts.

Many do. I can see why online gaming isn't for everyone but aside all the trouble makers, it really is a solid experience.

 

Why continue playing with someone who disrupts and harasses others? Why not use your normal account to post here?

Simply use the console features as directed above and move on. It may also help to file a report at the developers website or in game. GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Unfortunately, I have a group of friends from all over the world that I play COD3 with most nights. We can exclude this person only by setting up a private game. Unfortunately, that's what we have been doing lately to avoid harassment.

Microsoft has not done anything about our complaints. My friends have filed many, many complaints against this person and his bad behavior...to no avail. Our little group would love to believe that, "everything you need is a button press away". Sadly, this
is not the case, and Xbox/Microsoft has done absolutely nothing to help.
