I was wondering if Microsoft was going to do security fixes on older cods. The older cods will come to game pass eventually but what’s even the point of putting them on game pass if Microsoft isn’t going to do security patches? The games are basically unplayable because hackers have complete free rein and not only can they cheat but reset/boost people’s rank to 10th prestige. Just thought I would throw that out there since the acquisition has completed.

:)

Will Microsoft get rid of hackers on old cods?

Hi,

How far back are you talking here? Call of Duty games prior to COD WW2 didn't use dedicated servers. This was a much cheaper way to run these games. Xbox Live connected to an Activision system that linked players up, and one of the players console's acted as 'server'. This is why sometimes, part-way through a game, there would be change over. This happened when, for what ever reason, the host console left the match and a new user was selected as host.

This was much more straight forward to set up and run. Unfortunately, this type of multiplayer can be exploited. A problem exacerbated once the game is no longer officially supported with patches. The fact that Microsoft now owns Activision will, unfortunately, make little difference here.

Hi. My name is Brilliant, an independent advisor, happy to assist you today.

Hackers in Call of Duty games have been a persistent problem for many years. Microsoft takes this issue seriously and has put in place a number of steps to counteract cheating and hacking in games. One of the measures is the usage of anti-cheat software built into the Xbox platform. Furthermore, Microsoft maintains a team of professionals who monitor and examine accusations of game cheating and hacking.

However, it is not clear whether Microsoft will take any action to get rid of hackers on old Call of Duty games. According to a post on the Microsoft Community forum, Activision customer support is non-existent, and players are being plagued by hackers in Warzone2.0, MW2, Cold War, and WW2. Microsoft advises players to continue reporting the hackers to Activision and try contacting their customer service team for assistance.

It just seems futile, and it definitely doesn't help that they give each complaint filer their own "reliability" score either. It has in essence made my voice insignificant and ignored.

That shouldn't be an issue for anyone unless they have a habit of filing
false complaints. I.E. sore losers who lost because someone was actually better than they were. There wouldn't be so many modders/cheaters if the Game Developers actually spent some time patching their game(s) to disallow the use of said mods/cheats.
Otherwise all of MS's efforts to stop the problem are being done in vain.
Not entirely true though, because it's not always that black and white. I'm definitely not one of those immature sore loser types who files a complaint on just about anyone who gets the best of me in a match. I take the time to carefully file complaints
against legitimate modders/hackers/cheaters nowadays. But you go can through the entire process of filing a legitimate complaint and still the XBLPET might not see what you're seeing due to various factors, like the timing of the complaint and XBLPET's timely
response, the failure to decipher whether the complaint actually falls under a TOS violation or not, the ability of the hacker to evade such complaints by transiently changing his profile/gamertag, etc.

The point being that completely innocent players who are trying to file truly legitimate complaints can still be largely ignored because of the "reliabiity" system. It's not a perfect system either. It just seems a bit unfair to me, the court system in America
gives everyone their own equal voice and fair share of time to make a viable case, regardless of their apparent trustworthiness, but here on Xbox Live, not everyone is perceived as equal. It may save XBLPET more time, but it doesn't necessarily make them run
more efficiently if they continue to miss legitimate complaints due to their skepticism of the filer. I just think it sends the wrong message in the long run, which is somewhat evident considering many people have no faith in the File-a-complaint system.

The situation itself and the solution to it isn't a simple one, I realize that, but this is just how my own experiences have shaped my view of the entire process.

Xbox moderators aren't the ones who enforce such policies. That's the job of XBLPET.

Personally, I've given up on the File-a-Complaint system. It has never seemed to rid Live of the legitimate hackers and cheaters who I've come across. They persist to this day with modded gamertags, gamerscores, consoles, etc., and nothing ever seems to be
done. Now when an XBLPET member actually sees the hacking firsthand by some idiot bad kid, THEN they get the perma-ban for sure, and that's what you see in the Account Suspensions forum. But not a single one of my complaints has ever seemed to matter, they
always fall on deaf ears. It just seems futile, and it definitely doesn't help that they give each complaint filer their own "reliability" score either. It has in essence made my voice insignificant and ignored.

Concerning “hackers’, cheaters and modders in these games, why bother complaining to MS about it? They didn’t make those games, so they aren’t responsible for fixing them. You need to complain to Treyarch (CoD) and Infinity Ward (MW2) about them.
Go to their website and complain about it to them and maybe they’ll take care of the problem.
I do agree that the developers should be the ones to fix the games but MS does test and approve the games. It seems almost inconceivable that a game can go through both testing process and such big problems not get caught by either one.
