Will Microsoft ever release drivers for Xbone controller on PC?

They are still working on the drivers, due this year apparently.

I would think they would. I mean correct me if I am wrong but in the grand scheme of things, It cant be terribly hard or expensive in comparison to other stuff they have addressed, right?

 

Would be great cos it should just let you use the plug and play kit.

 

I picked up an FPS game from the late 90's for PC a few years back and tried to play using the 360 pad with the charger wire. Took me a long time to work out I needed an actual wired pad -_- <3 plug and play

 

Playing an FPS with a controller is just silly.

True you lose accuracy but you gain a smoothness of movement that WASD can't provide.

 

Because they severely gimp you in any FPS on PC. And it's peasantry.

 

Thankfully I know you are joking. We members of the Glorious PC Gaming Master Race, praise Gaben, have that sense of humour.

Personally I find it depends on the game. Smaller maps with tight corners favour the accuracy of the mouse for me. Larger more open environments and I tend to like the smoothness of motion the controller provides.

To say one is 'better' than the other is simple idiocy and somehow I don't think that describes you.

I couldn't get use to using keyboard and mouse for it so I opted for controller. Though that didn't work so I didn't play it lol. Your right though vote, its a lot easier to quickly spin around with the mouse then it is the controller but I have to slow
movement down that much that I may was well use the controller full stop lol.

[/quote]And that's where you're wrong. Who said this? Don't make unrelated across the board statements because I never said the keyboard and mouse is the best for everything. The keyboard and mouse is insufficient in other genres like racing and fighting
sims. I'm talking about the best tool for the job and you're talking about personal preference. I don't care what your preference is; you can go ahead and use a game-pad in a FPS if that's what you prefer but you're wrong and awfully silly if
you think the game-pad is better and more effective in a FPS than a keyboard + mouse. You can use a game-pad in Starcraft 2 because that's your choice to make but you're wrong if you think a game-pad would be better than a no-nonsense
mechanical keyboard and mouse. Keyboard and mouse is better by such a HUGE margin it's hardly comparable.

Can you imagine an idiot trying to play QuakeLIVE with a controller?
I had the great pleasure of taking up arms on my PC when Unreal Tournament 3 and Quake 3 allowed console gamers on the DreamCast to play with PC gamers. It didn't work out as well as they liked. They got smoked relentlessly, so bad infact that the feature
was removed. Because they had the movement and aiming of clumsy droid when using a game pad. What about Red Orchestra? Forget about recoil control, buddy. Microsoft made professional Halo 2 players play against casual
players with a KB+M. The professions got destroyed. It was like guys with no arms trying to wrestle other guys who had arms.

Call me when a controller can properly play a game like Tribes, UT2k, Quake 3, CounterStrike or Red Orchestra 2 and others without aim assist and gimping the game mechanics.

I don't recall the Dreamcast being able to play Quake with PC gamers but that they were spanked is hardly surprising, the Dreamcast after all never had a dual analogue stick system.

I don't recall that Microsoft Halo 2 incident either. I'm sure you'd have no problem pointing me to information regarding it. You will forgive me I hope if I do not take your word.

 

I much prefer using a joypad over a mouse and keyboard.

In my experience the mouse just ends up running up and down the keys and it becomes chaos :-/
