    Will I be able to play on my Series X at 1080p 120fps VRR with this monitor?


    Hi. I want to buy a gaming monitor, specifically an MSI Optix G271(https://www.msi.com/Monitor/Optix-G271).

    Will I be able with this monitor to play at 1080p 120fps with VRR enabled on my Series X?

    I fear that HDMI 1.4 won't be enough, but the monitor has Free Sync Premium.

    So the 1080p 120fps will work with that monitor, but VRR will not ?

    I need hdmi 2.1 for vrr? I cant use the free sync?

    that monitor supports 120hz and freesync, you don't need hdmi 2.1 for 1080p and 120hz with freesync at all.

    you need hdmi 2.1 for 4k at 120hz with vrr.

    I have that screen and its fine for most gaming uses.

    that screen has console mode for 120hz, and works fine.

    Thank you for the reply. In that link they say : If 120Hz cannot be achieved, please try turning off FreeSync and Raytracing in the settings. So they dont even know about vrrs functionality? lol

    it will work fine including vrr, you don't need hdmi 2.0/2.1 for 1080p 120hz vrr.

    that monitor is also tested to work with series x and ps5.
