I'm not sure why that was the case. As long as you are signed into the same Microsoft account where you purchased the game originally you should be able to download and play on any other computer. Can you explain a little more about that?

Because I installed the new minecraft launcher, and according to it, I have the windows edition of minecraft, even though I have minecraft on my xbox.
