You can cancel whenever you want. Just make sure to cancel before it renews itself.

You should be able to cancel your Xbox Game Pass right after you purchase it. For example if you purchase a years worth and then cancel it immediately you will have it for that remaining time period. Once that time period is up, you won't have access to
those games anymore unless you buy them individually or resubscribe to the Game Pass.

The only subscription where you should wait for some of the last days of the subscription before you cancel it is the game pass ultimate. That subscription would be canceled right that moment you cancel it and you would loose the rest of the time you already
paid for.
