Will headphones work with xbox if my monitor has no speakers?

So today I just got my monitor for my xbox, and it doesn't have any speakers. Up to this point I had been using my large screen tv for hdmi volume (played outloud) and had avoided my old crappy headphones that stopped working months after purchase. If I
get good $50-100 headphones with a mic, will I be able to hear my xbox and communicate while using the monitor?

How to get audio from Xbox One when using a monitor?

Hi, I'm using a monitor as a screen for my Xbox instead of my TV but because it's just a monitor it has no audio output so I was wondering if I could use headphones or a Xbox mic that came with the Xbox to play any audio through that instead and if that's
possible, how to do it? Thanks!

can i use razer megalodon headphones on my xbox through my pc?

If i connect my Xbox to my pc monitor using a hd vga cable will my headphones which are plugged into my pc work? Or do i need my headphones to be plugged into the Xbox?

Hi there,

Yes that should be possible, my headset (Astro A40) let's me hear both chat and game audio for example.

You may have to change some settings on the console, but that is different per headset what may be required. See this link for some info: https://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-one/console/choosing-headset-audio-settings

make sure the monitor has speakers, i have a monitor, no speakers but headphone jack output, if the monitor does have speakers go to xbox settings, audio and check that stereo output is selected under hdmi audio.

My monitor does have DVI, and my speakers hook up via a 3.5mm, similar to headphones. I'm playing now on a 720p 19" TV, and I have my speakers simply plugged into the headphone jack of that setup.. My monitor is a 24" compared to this 19, and is 1080p, so
if I could avoid paying for a new monitor that would be best. Is there any way to easily convert an audio out on the Xbox to a 3.5mm?

The vast majority of monitors do not have built in speakers. If your monitor has a 3.5mm audio jack, you'll need to get some external speakers or plug in headphones to get sound.
