    Will games continue to download even when switched off?


    I pre-ordered F1 2018 today and it was downloading a huge file. But it was getting pretty late so I decided to turn it off and download it tomorrow, but before I did that. I actually wondered if the download will continue where it left off?

    Im kinda worried that it would reset since the download started and I might have to buy the game again

    Question about games installing when xbox is off.

    Hi

    In energy saving mode the console will not continue to download games or any updates whilst switched off. When the console is set to instant on mode it is possible to change the settings so the console downloads games and updates
    whilst switched off.

    Cannot play downloaded game offline

    No I haven't switched my console. I even have my saves from the game when I deleted it. I have a feeling it has to do with me doing the background download. I didn't do that last time.

    Hi, if you have your console power settings on instant on, and downloads turned on, then yeah it will download while turned off. If you have the console in power saving mode, then the console will not download when turned off, but will continue where it
    left off the next time you turn it on.

    While downloading!

    If you have the console set to Instant On (Settings>Power&Startup) then yes, if you start downloading anything you can switch the console off and it will continue downloading.

    If the console is set to Energy Saving the console will switch off fully and stop the active download.

    If you're downloading something off of the dashboard (outside of a game) then it will continue to download even if the console goes idle.

    If you are downloading something from with-in an actual game then it all depends on the game itself.
