Will game work after gold subscription is cancelled?

If you actually pay for a game, it's yours to keep and you can play it with or without gold. If you download a free game through games with gold, you have to keep a subscription in order to keep playing for free.

Hey YinYang! You can check the following on how to cancel your gold subscription, and then after it is cancelled, renew on a regular gold plan:

Please go to https://account.microsoft.com/services/ and check your subscriptions.

If the Gold membership shows a due amount of money, and the card for the Gold membership is cancelled, you need to add a new payment option first.

Click on "Payment & Billing" and click on "Payment Options". There add your working credit card.

Back on the Services page, you need to manage your Gold subscription. Change the payment method to the new working card, and pay the due amount if necessary.

After the due amount is payed, you can cancel your Gold subscription.

You can choose to cancel immediately, or cancel at the next renewal (so you are still golden for the paid amount of time).

After the Gold membership has run out (either by cancelling immediately, or waiting after the cancelled renewal date), you can then remove your payment option.

sorry to hear. After you take the XBOX Game Pass subscription, the Gold was re-energised/merged. After you cancelled you cancelled also the included Gold.

Game pass ultimate includes gold and the game pass subscription so if you have the gold and purchase the ultimate subscription it will cancel the gold subscription and put it in with the ultimate. The Gold subscription will show as being cancelled in your
subscriptions.
