Will Game Keep Downloading When Xbox One is Off.

I was wondering i just started to download GTA V , will the game still download when the xbox is turned off or do I have to keep the Xbox On so that it could keep downloading ? I was just wondering.

when downloading console continually turns off unless keep controller on. how can u keep xbox one downloading when you are not playing on it.

Help with downloading on console when xbox one is off

Hey Im just trying to learn how to turn off the xbox one yet still carry on download i mean i know how to turn off my xbox one but how do you keep on downloading in when xbox one is off please please someone help !!!

To make your console download when off, you need change your console's power settings to 'Instant On'. This puts your console into a low power state when you either turn it off via the controller or press the Xbox power button on the front of the console.

I also wanted to add that when the console is off in the Instant On mode the game or DLC will download at a slower rate. When downloading games I will leave the console on overnight to ensure that it is ready the next day.

After talking to support all he kept saying was it is not possible to install a game when the console is off
and i kept reminding him that i installed the game but didnt want to download the update at this time.

He said that the xbox wouldnt download content without my consent.

That is not entirely true. If you have set the xbox one to keep your console and games up to date automatically in the power settings in Settings > Power > Keep my games and apps up to date, they will update and continue downloads and system updates while
the console is in instant on mode (when the console is off it is in instant on/standby mode). You will need to disable this option and stop all downloads before they start if you are on a metered connection. You can also turn it all the way off by unplugging
it or setting it to go to "power savings mode" which is true off.

It is taken for granted that people don't have caps on their data when using xbox one but sometimes this is not so. I would suggest turning auto updates off in Settings > Power > Uncheck "keep my games and apps up to date" to prevent this from happening
again.

try turning off background downloads, this keeps the xbox on to download things off of xbox live but can also keep the xbox on even when not downloading for about 10 minutes, you will find this options in the settings > system settings > console settings
> startup and shutdown > background downloads.

yea keep the auto update on and never fully power down ur xbox things will download in the background, the games and updates download faster when the game is off. Sucks to have to shift your expectations but hopefully they will rid that with the next systems.
