Currently it is useless, can only record 720p videos and even then the bit rate is only 3Mbps, just looks worse than a video at 480p, there is no other way of getting your videos off the system other than Skydrive, which ruins the quality even more some
how. You have to get your videos off there as the upload studio is crap, only allows you to edit up to 5 mins of video, you can only record 5 mins at a time as it is... not even enough for a single race on Forza 5!

I can only hope now we will be able to record at 1080p, up the bit rate to 50Mbps and take it straight from the drive without the need of an Xbox Live gold sub and edit it on our PCs.

Why the hell did they stick a shoddy 2.5 Laptop drive in the console? Could have put a 3.5 7200rpm HDD that is three times faster in there, could have fit two in there with the amount of space there is inside the console.

    :)

  2. A Question about Connecting External HDD's.

Any hard drives hooked up via USB will only allow the max of 32gb of storage. You can use up to 2 USB storage devices for a total of 64gb extra storage. There is no support for external hard drives like yours.

I'd like MS to add a backup facility once they allow external storage. So you plug in an external HD and it automatically backs up every night or something. This would help for if something goes wrong and you need a repair or you buy a second console or whatever.

    Backup gaming clips

    Hello Kursaalflyer,

Thank you for your quick response.

It appears that the capture location for your external drive is saved to GameDVR folder and XboxCapture copies folder. When copying multiple copies it goes directly to Xbox Capture Copies folder while captures clip is directly saved to GameDVR folder.

The GameDVR folder in external storage is a folder that contains the game clips and screenshots that you have recorded using the Xbox Game DVR feature on your console. The Game DVR feature allows you to capture your gameplay moments and share them with your friends or on social media. After recording clips, your external drive can now be plugged into a PC, where the traditional video files can be extracted. This essentially turns your console into a simple capture card, allowing recordings to be locally transferred for use in PC-based editing software. All files created by Game DVR can be found under the "Game DVR" folder automatically created on your drive.

The Xbox capture copies folder in external drive is a folder that contains the copies of the game clips and screenshots that you have recorded using the Xbox Game DVR feature on your console and then transferred to your external drive. The Xbox Game DVR feature allows you to capture your gameplay moments and share them with your friends or on social media. By transferring your game captures to an external drive, you can save space on your internal drive, backup your captures, and access them on other devices.

You can edit both the files saved on the GameDVR folder and the Xbox capture copies folder using PC editing tools. The difference is that the files on the GameDVR folder are the ones that you have recorded directly to your external drive by setting it as your capture location, while the files on the Xbox capture copies folder are the ones that you have copied or moved from your internal drive to your external drive. Both folders contain the same type of files, which are MP4 video files for game clips and PNG image files for screenshots.

We look forward to your response. Kindly let us know, if there is any misunderstanding or clarifications of our description by sending us a reply.

Dashboard Laggy When Certain Game Is Installed

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this. Perhaps the issue is with storage. With 900+ DLC packages the game can take up quite a bit of room.

Perhaps try adding an external storage device if you are not currently using one. You can use a USB 3.0 device ranging in size from 256GB - 16TB in size for external storage. Hopefully, when added, you can put the game and DLC on that and no longer experience
    these slow downs.
