Will Destiny digital purchase on Xbox One unlock 360 copy?

I have an Xbox One and was planning to buy the Destiny Digital Guardian Edition. I saw the promotion about buying the Xbox 360 digital version and it unlocking the Xbox One version also...and since I have some friends that will be playing on 360, this seems
like a good option for me since I am active on both systems. Since the process is explained as making the Xbox 360 purchase/download, and then logging in with same the same account on the Xbox One, and downloading the game, would this work in reverse? I would
like to have access to the extra content in the Digital Guardian Edition, but the idea of having access to the game on both systems, so that I can play with all my friends, is very appealing to me.

Interesting News For Digital Upgrades

Bungie released a statement that they will allow people who purchase Destiny on the 360 to upgrade their purchase to the Xbox One for free until January 15, 2015. From the webpage, it includes the Extension Pass as well. A nice feature for those willing
to purchase a digital version.

I have read that site, and it is one of the reasons I had the question in the first place, since the means of redeeming the "upgrade" copy is simply by signing into your account so that it is recognized in your purchase history. I do know that you can go
back and forth between the 2 consoles withe same character, and keep your progress. I understand all the advertising and information talks about doing the upgrade route, which makes sense to encourage making the move to the next-gen console. I just want to
be 100% sure, though. Has this been said in an official statement somewhere, or is there an example of someone trying it and verifying that it does or does not work?

 

There is no official statement except for the offer itself. It specifically states that you have to purchase the last-gen (meaning 360 version) to get the upgrade for free. It doesn't work the other way around. A lot of games have had the same type of promos
and they have all worked this way.

 

Ok. Aside from games that you had an option to pay for an upgrade to the "next-gen" version, I wasn't aware of any other offer like this, aside from maybe some of the PlayStation cross-buy deals. The statement on their site that asks if upgrading still allows
access to the 360 version says "Your Microsoft Account (Xbox Live Account) will retain licenses for both consoles.". Again, I never took this as definitively saying you could, but it kinda sounded like the loophole could be there that allowed it. I guess,
if no other reason than to be on the safe side, I will probably just go with the offer as is. Thanks for the input.
