Will Call of Duty ever be the same?

I think the shift from Historical to Modern has mainly been influenced by current events, and the industry's belief that in order to stay relevant they should base their games off of things that are happening in the world right now. COD4:MW came out in the
middle of the Iraq War and half of its singleplayer was about fighting insurgents in a middle eastern country and hunting down a dictator. By the time the US pulled out of Iraq in 2011, two more MW games came out and both of them used terrorism as a major
theme.

From 2012 to 2014, an Iranian nuclear plant was attacked via a computer virus, US drones in Afghanistan were hacked by insurgents, and the US had begun to push for a more technologically advanced military. These events then influenced the next 3 titles that
came out within that time frame: Black Op 2, Ghosts, and Advanced Warfare.

This is all just speculation, but it make sense to me. I think the reason that WW1 or 2 have not been touched in awhile is because its not all that relevant to customers today when you have all this crazy s*** happening right now.

 

The last I enjoyed was blops 2. IW versions have sucked since modern warfare 2 imo. Giving treyarch a chance. If it sucks like advanced warfare does I'm done with COD

 

COD has changed!? why because you can jump higher? haha

Please, if anything COD hasn't changed enough, there still just copy and pastes of each other, meh to COD... Always kinda bored me after a few hours in, still does...

 

Cod used to be a mix of run n gun and campers .

Instead of a betty , claymore or IED , Aw ... has an explosive drone that doesn't work.

This game .. more than any previous Cod ...was made for people with lightning reflexes and low ping .

 

Probably so, Activision has been milking the series to death since the day it was made, look at the entire history of CoD, it's been coming out every year since then.

Yeah, way too many games, Activision really needs to retire the franchise, and make something else for a change, make a new True Crime game, perhaps do a reboot of a old PS1 game Nightmare Creatures.

Some of these Xbox fanboys also need to retire the CoD franchise and play something else for a change.

It wasn't .. will there be another cod game released .

Also , it's multiplatform , not just Xbox .

 

I know CoD it's on PlayStation & PC as well, but CoD is more popular on Xbox than on PlayStation & PC.

 

Actually , the classic playlist used to be , exo abilities like shield and cloak disabled .

Now .... its exo movement disabled ...

No jumping onto the roof , no 20' sliding on your knees ...

series died in 2008 after WaW... MW2 was the biggest glitchfest ive ever seen, what a joke of a game.

 

I would welcome a backtrack in the COD franchise. Going back to WWII or even modern day wouldn't be bad to me. I'm not really into the futuristic side of the franchise. I prefer it to be simple, that's the whole point of COD, simplicity.

But, years of people complaining that it wasn't changing, has caused it to change into a new style, with a lot of the same gameplay styles of course, it just isn't the same.

 

CoD will always be the same. It has been the same for the past decade now. They just copy and paste the old game into the new one and make a few tweaks to multiplayer perks and add in a new Michael Bay inspired story mode. CoD is literally the definition
of milking a franchise to death and for some reason the fans keep coming back.

I have long loathed CoD for its simplistic gameplay that only favors twitch reactions and has little to do with actual skill. CoD mostly boils down to who pulled the trigger first and managed to point their laser accurate full auto machine gun at the enemy.
I had fun with CoD 4 back in the day but after that the series was just copy and paste with a few tweaks to perks and what not. I even purchased the newest CoD:AW out of shear boredom a while back and played it for about a week. The very first game I entered
felt exactly like I was playing the old CoD games but now I could jump higher. Same twitchy boring gunplay, same perks, same kill streaks and featuring a couple of maps that change halfway through the match. Playing it felt like I was playing a game made for
someone with severe ADHD. totally mindless running around killing things with little to no incentive for teamwork or even caring that other players are even on your team. After playing the halo 5 beta I would say the 343i, despite what many rabid fanboys think,
has evolved halo in a way that CoD could never hope to achieve.
