I agree, I think we need another World War based call of duty. But are all these little kids going to ask their moms to pre-order them COD if its got guns that require skill to use? Nope the want the new Nitrous Injected turbo charged miniature Uzi with
explosive rounds. And COD is going to follow the money. I'm just looking forward to Zombies. Hopefully they didn't make that too easy *** well.

Will Call of Duty ever be the same?

COD is alive only because of its brand. If I had it my way, I'd put that franchise to rest instead of perpetuating this cliched 'how do I shoot a guy differently' game.

I had faith in Sledgehammer - most of the team made my favorite horror game in recent time, Dead Space. Alas, the COD checklist took priority above any meaningful additions to the franchise.

  5. I think it has less to do with the setting than you think. Series fatigue, as others have already stated, is the reason.

There's nothing wrong with the futre setting itself as long as it remains innovative. For example, the new Star Wars Battelefront will be a shooter in a futuristic setting, but you don't hear people complaining about that (at least not yet). However, I think
innovation is where CoD is lacking. Sure, they've added cool things like boost-jumping, for example, but a lot of what it has added was already done somewhere else, so despite it being new to CoD, it's not really new altogether. This, I think, is where CoD
truly suffers. It has no real originality of its own anymore. And that's not counting a lot of the things that other games have been copying from CoD that make the series itself feel even more saturated than it really is...

^It has everything to do with the setting. I believe a lot of us would just like to play a "somewhat" realistic shooter without exoskeletons, mechs, etc., and that's what C.O.D. used to be. I love to play Titanfall with the mechs and wall running, just don't
want it in C.O.D.. I would have been happy with a Modern Warfare remake with more maps and character customization.

C.O.D. doesn't have to be original or initiative...it just needs to fill a basic need for me to play soldier. Lol.

    Peace, J.R.

@ Galactic Geek...I personally disagree. It isn't franchise fatigue for me. I still enjoy playing COD 4, WAW and MW2 to this day. If the pop counts were higher I would play them regularly. I use to somewhat dislike BF, but I've become a fairly avid BF4
and Hardline player since AW was released. Hardline was a step towards COD. Smaller maps, more infantry based and set in modern times.

Battlefront has expectations to be a futuristic shooter. If they removed the laser guns and jeti abilities it wouldn't feel like Star wars. It wouldn't feel right. Similar to how futuristic COD doesn't feel right.

  8. Will Call of Duty ever be the same?

If Call of Duty ca transition from WW2 to Modern Day I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed to take different directions. I say the problem isn't the setting but the fact that COD's gameplay doesn't lend itself well to other types. Movement is a huge factor
in making a FPS good but CODS gameplay is really antithetical to that. ADS gameplay slows the game down and encourages corner camping. Adding in movement heavy abilities like the exo suits makes it feel less polished than something like Titanfall which was
built with such concepts since its inception.

  9. Hello everyone Will Call of Duty ever be the same? :)

In my opinion, Capcom should STOP making Resident Evil games because they're (Capcom) just ruining the wonderful series / franchise.

Call Of Duty has its own zombie mode and it really annoys me that the Resident Evil series is stuck in the " shooting gallery " setting.

Resident Evil needs to return to its " survival horror " setting.

Have a nice day or afternoon or night everyone Will Call of Duty ever be the same? :)

  11. COD has been dead for me since MW2. Black Ops with it's lag introduced me to Bad Company 2 and I haven't looked back. I do go back and play some COD for the nostalgia, but once you play a Battlefield game it's hard going back to COD.

Black ops was the last COD that I quit on early. The game was solid, but the weird red bar lag ruined it for me. I was also really busy at that time (full time student, full time job, GF, ect). Besides AW, Blop 1 is the only COD that I have less than
    5 days played.

BF is a more immersive game, but COD is far more addictive. I'm not a fan of non-stop tanks, heli's and Jets...so I can only play so much BF4 before I get bored. Hardline is closer to the fast paced action that I prefer, but it seems like the BF community
    isn't responding well to it.

  13. Will Call of Duty ever be the same?

Well, CODukes the issue for COD is they build on the previous game. They have not really been building any new games for a while. They just started using the previous stuff and adding and tweaking it. BO3 is that next tweaking. They really need to find
different paths overall for each game.

And I think the futuristic setting is fine. So is WW1 or WW2. Even alternate history WW1 or WW2. And they could do more modern, not futuristic, games as well. But they need more variety in the time settings they are using. That was one of the things
I liked about MOH. It may not have been the most popular but I enjoyed the campaign and stuff. More so than COD and I used to play the crap out of WW2 and modern ones up to a point.

In the end the series is being played out. Had they varied each thing up a little more they would have been fine. But I have not meet anyone who plays COD regularly that does not feel like you and they feel the games feel way to similar. Many, including
my son and the many people he plays with on COD, want WW2 again (I remember when they were saying that was overly played out as well) and less of these jetpacks and stuff.

    I agree Guerrero.

Doing a 3 year cycle of Classic (Retro, Modern and futuristic) would be great...I can't figure out why they have been stuck in this slightly futuristic model for the past 5 releases. Me and my buddies expected COD to make the mistake of adding jet packs.
Hopefully they have learned from their mistakes.

I remember people saying WWII was played out, but I didn't agree at the time. Now that it's been 7 years since a major WWII fps mulitplayer, it is long over due. The majority of today's gamers have probably never played a WWII shooter.

The WWII era has incredible character. All it would take is a gritty trailer with an awesome soundtrack to pull in the new, younger COD crowd. You wouldn't need to sell it to the long time fans and older crowd. WWII sells itself.

  15. I enjoyed BLOPS 1 and Ghosts quite a bit, but once they started introducing a lot of vertical movement into the series, I gave up. CoD always panders to players with twitch skills, so the evolution of the game makes sense. I'm just hoping the new Rainbow
Six fills the void left behind for people who like pure military shooters.
