    Will any more gamertags be recycled?


    Hello, last year many gamertags were released back into the community. I'm wondering if we are to expect any more to be released? There are still many inactive accounts and there are also so many who missed the opportunity to snag the ones that were recycled
    from last year.

    * This is my first post on here, so please excuse me if I published this incorrectly.

    It doesn't work like that anymore.

    They changed things towards the end of last year.

    Now,if a gamertag does not sign in for 5 years then it is released & made available.

    It's highly unlikely there will be any more mass releases again.

    You need to remember that gamertags are used on other services,not just xbox live,so you can't tell whether a gamertag is in use or not.

    If there's a tag you want then you'll have to check in just under 5 years time to see if it has been released or not

    Apparently there's no plans to recycle any gamertags, and they will be available when they're available.

    If your previous account has been permanently banned I don't believe there is any way to get that old gamertag back as there is no way to delete a gamertag unless it gets recycled, but I'm not sure if ms even does that anymore and if they do we don't know
    any of the details of when or what gameratgs get recycled.

    You just have to be patient, Xbox is working on "recycling" old Gamertags just be patient and keep your eye on the Gamertag and Hopefully it will be Recycled for your use
