Will Advanced Warfare Multi-player LAG ON PURPOSE?

Dedicated servers fix almost all lag related problems. If you took COD4 and gave it dedicated servers it would run flawlessly. If you were lagging, then you know 100% that it is your connection causing the issue. With the netcode in the COD games after MW2
(when infinity ward split up) they purposely make the game lag for everyone to make it "fair". Well what's fair and what's right isn't the same thing. Just because one person has garbage internet doesn't make it right that everyone else has to suffer.

If it is to control good players then the solution is still dedicated servers and the devs need to learn how to make a proper match making system. I remember back in the halo 2 days if you sucked you were matched with people who suck.

I'm tired of developers trying to make people feel good about being bad at a game. When I played cod 2 professionally if you sucked then you sucked. There was no way around it. The good players dominated.

Yeah I agree that dedicated servers help with lag, but even if every game had dedicated servers lag will still be around.

This is why they get away with it. Look at the people in here defending COD lag.

Yes there is inevitable lag...but that doesn't explain the fake/overwhelming lag that they introduce.

Go play COD 4 today. You will most likely be matched up with players from across the world because of a low population.....it is still less laggy than any of the recent/current cod games. How can this be? It is exactly what the video was explaining.

There is a bit "more" going on in todays CoD games, than there was in CoD4, just saying, and even with dedicated servers, someone is going to be better connected to the host server than you, so in short, there will always be some lag. I dont like it either
and I dont think lag comp is the answer, and yes, lag comp was used in CoD4. I saw it in articles like 6 years ago or so, way before MW3.

 

Lag comp = gaming socialism. And yes it sucks there as well.

 

There is lag comp in all games technically. The game has to guess where the bullets are going and where you are going...but the lag comp in the recent titles has been overbearing. Blops 2 had horrendous fake lag.

 

MW3 was the worst for me. It is the only one in the series that I flat out had to stop playing because of it. BO2 was ok until I partied up with my buddies on different coasts then forget about it. Ghosts felt the same way. And thats what surprises me
the most. You can literally feel it in the game play when it is happening. I also feel that lag comp plays a part in why some people are reduced to sitting in corners.

 

it messes with the skill you think you are, lags on a great connection, doesnt lag on a bad connection, if you have a great connection get out your laptop and download a movie or something for 2 hours so you dont lag as much on cod, in otherwords you will
never know how good a player you are on cod now

 

Although this forum is a dead zone I'm just bumping this thread so maybe some new people can take a peek at that video. It is one of the better ones I've seen describing the modern CoD experience.

was on cod4 last night, no lag at all, great game great experience still alot of people on and if theres so many playing cod 4, doesnt say much for the last few cods, we want the cod 4 connection back what is the point of playing if its all down to lag comp,
its ridiculous in this day and age....where have u been uneasy?

Ive been having computer problems at work, LOL, but anywho, I think the programming is different in CoDs now. WaW was great fun too. I also dunno if the programming is so much worse now for CoDs OR if its we have played them all so much that we can just
"feel" the slightest connect differences, dunno.

 

Honestly, I don't really think it's a matter of it being on purpose or not, but more of that it's just what the franchise does. I've played since CoD2 and it was the same then as it is was 2 games ago and probably will be with AW. With the massive popularity
of the series, you figure that with they would have at least tried to improve in this area alone over the years, but it almost feels like it 's progressively getting worse with each new entry. That's what it feels like to me anyway. At least with CoD2, they
gave me a real ping number so I could determine whether or not I was in a lobby that was going to at least allow me to be somewhat competitive or see if it was even playable. Now, it just seems like they'd rather you not know at all so it'll be one less fact
that they'd have to deal with.... "out of sight, out of mind". I mean really, there's a lot little nagging issues that have carried over from CoD2 that are still present in the series today. As a former fan and staunch defender of the series, this has just
been my observation over the years, opinions will vary...

 

Nothing was worse than BO2 for me.I was rocking 120mbps broadband and knew every time i pulled host just by how slow and twitchy my character moved from the start.

I don't think the devs or publisher or whoever want us to lag and do it on purpose,They just don't wanna eat into their enormous profits by splashing out on some nice new shiny dedis for us and they don't know how to balance P2P to make it fair for everyone.These
days there are growing numbers of us with high speed broadband but also areas still with internet from the dark ages.You put these two factors into a P2P game and try balancing everybodies connection and it just does'nt work out,Especially if you're the host.
