    WiFi hardware problem immediately following software update


    I bought my xbone in April (after my 360 red-ringed for the 2nd time) and I only play it occasionally. It had been off for about a month so tonight when I turned it on, no surprise there was 1024mb update to install. My console has always been connected
    over WiFi without issues and this download obviously happened over Wifi. Once it finished the install and rebooted itself, I couldn't log into my xbox account.

    Under network setting, it shows that I'm connected via ethernet and, when I try to "set up wifi" it tells me I first need to unplug the cable. But of course THERE IS NO CABLE!

    Then when I check for network issues it says, "There's a hardware problem... Sorry, the wireless network hardware on this console isn't working. You'll need to send it in for repair."

    What are the odds that it would crap out immediately after a software update? On a basically brand new console.

    Anyway, is this a known issue with a fix or am I SOL. Looks like I'm going to have to send it out for repair under warranty.

    Hi there,

    if a power cycle will only fix it temporary, then I suggest doing a factory reset (with keeping Games and Apps installed)

    Keep in mind that you will need the account credentials in order to download your profile again.

    If this doesn't fix the issue either, then it might be a hardware issue and I suggest contacting Xbox Support to see if they have any other steps to try.
