wifi extender

I bought a wifi extender because i get no signal at the back of the house. my laptop and cell phone connected fine to the extender but my xbox 360 nor my playstation 4 will connect to it. any ideas? ive even tried moving the extender and connecting it wired
to the console and stil no luck.

Have you married your wifi extender with your router? You don't port forward in the extender you do that at the router. Anyway, port forwarding won't do anything in regards to connecting to the extender.

Once the extender is married to the router it should just be increasing the distance of the wifi signal. You should be able to connect to your wifi on which ever signal is the strongest (router/extender). Hope this helps. Good Luck!

 

Xbox 360 cannot wirelessly connect to Cisco Linksys E2500

The router is a fair distance away, so what was done was purchased was a Cisco Extender. To rebroadcast the wifi.

 

your laptop and cell phone have stronger reach for wifi. if it is the wifi extender that was out in 07, then it is either not strong enough range to reach your wifi, or their being just to many walls between your extender and the router. if you connect it
through Ethernet and still no connection then their could be an issue with the system itself

 

sometimes the broadcast extender doesn't broadcast the signal it's meant to extend and what ends up happening is that the devices that do connect are connecting to the original access point.

as rise of shipley stated, certain devices have a stronger reach for wifi.

can you see if you can truly connect to the wifi extender through your laptop or cell phone?

often times, this requires you to login to the wifi extender's interface and seeing what devices are connecting to it.
